Well I just had delivered the Princess Auto Tool/Gun Case. For those who have designed the cube foam for their Pelican or PA case do you have any suggestions before I start. Mine is 21" wide so I have room for several handguns if I do it right along with their mags. The case weighs 10lbs, looks like a truck could drive over it. Should work well. Thanks to those who commented on how good it works. Cost was about half what a Pelican case would cost.

ps I am about as artistic as I am mechanical inclined so please try to be concise.

this is how I set mine up

Mine is the larger 22" wide model. The cases come with the cube foam. I am now looking for the 16" version that is out of stock right now. I have not done the measurements yet but I hope to get six handguns in mine (4xPistols & 2 x Rev) + mags or speedloaders. we shall see how it maps out.

it looks like you used 2 cubes wide for the 1911 slides. Four cube spacing. I have to do some measurements.

Thanks for the pics. Gives me something to work with.

Anyone else?

For general purpose trips to the range, I still have and use one from years back when I was fairly heavily involved in paper punching. I've posted this info on a previous thread.

Very nice case and works great for bullseye shooting and such at the range. My needs are somewhat different as in air and ground travel and to matches. I would have loved to have one of those back in the day when I could see my sights a tad better than I do now

I know the Pellican cases are the Rolls Royce of gun cases but when I saw these from Princess Auto and the comments regarding them I could not pass on them. I paid regular price at $69. +tax & Shipping for this one. The smaller case works as well for less money. A Pellican case the same size would have cost me 3 - 4 times as much.

I've purchased the Boyt's and they are as good or better than the Pelicans IMHO as the foam is sturdier and you can change up different guns in it without cutting the foam.. and they stay in place very solidly..

I went to Princess Auto and looked at the Pelican style ones but didn't like them as they were very bulky. I then went to Canadian Tire and found a case for 35$ with pluck out foam as well and am very happy with it. I went to a foam store and got different foam and cut it out to fit 2 pistols and 6 mags comfortably. Here is the link to the CT case..

Is this case all aluminum? I saw a case at my local CT that was mainly plastic with aluminum corners and edges. If the same, I would prefer the PA waterproof ones, I have one of those configured to hold 6 full size semi autos.
