All the range finders I've found at Cabelas or wholesale are all out to approx. 600 - 700 yards. Who makes a high quality range finder with amazing glass and can reach out beyond 1000 yards. I would like to purchase a really great range finder to do some long distance shooting. Thanks for any info, help, suggestions my fellow CGNer's,

There are lots of options depends on what you want out of it and your budget.. as above Leica 1600b is great for a range finder.. Terrapin is tops again for a rangefinder again. Leica makes some fantastic binocs (I own a pair of these) with a rangefinder and a limited ballistic solution built in. There is the G7 BR2 which is a good range finder with a full ballistics solution built in but the optics could be better..

Prices on these range from $850 - $3000+ new so you get an idea.

If you have 3K burning a hole in your pocket there's the Vectronix PLRF15. I've ranged trees out to 4900(ish) yards with mine. Cattle and round bales out to crazy distances like 4000+ yards. A sheet of plywood at one mile is a walk in the park. My PLRF15 has exceeded the ranging capabilities detailed in its spec sheet. 6X magnification with pretty nice optics. No bells and whistles though, it only ranges targets. Buy once, cry once!

I have Leica 8x42 HD-B and vectronix PLRF 15C . The Leica's work to about 2000 yards the Vectronix to about 5000 yards. The really cool thing about the Vectronix 15 c is that you can run it with a Nomad and it will give you co-ordinates to your target. So when you shoot you can go right to the spot....

G7 BR2 will give repetitive readings well out past 1000 yards but it definitely falls short on your amazing glass requirement.

I shall have to google all these suggestions. Thank you as I seriously need a good/great range finder as I wish to shoot out to 1000 yards eventually with my 308 Coyote & well past that with my PGW 50bmg. Cheers CGNer's,

The PLRF15 is a monocular range finder. Here's what it looks like through the 6X eye piece. I cut the bottom and top off a bit when taking the picture. Crappy cell phone pic!

So what exactly are you ranging? The crest of the hill before the tree line? Sorry, it's not meant to be an offensive post, I just don't understand the need for a rangefinder with the capability of ranging "something" way out there.
