Heading out for some Fur

Buddy of mine are heading out to go coyote hunting. Never intentionally gone out for coyotes before, always just had them wander into another hunt. Any tips for us when going specifically for coyotes? We are testing out some electronic calls and a bluetooth speaker we have, also have a hand call.

Good luck and watch the wind, set up cross wind if you can, high vantage if you can get one. Try coyote vocals....it's breeding season. Don't give up to early... Last stand before end of shoot time is usually the best.
Maybe stay on stand a little longer than normal, not sure how they'll come in with the crust on the snow? It is gonna be hard to keep them from hearing you walk in with the crusty snow. Best of luck and let us know how you did??
 
Put your call up in a tree, use chicken bird type calls.

You put your caller on the ground when the yote comes in close he'll be starring right at you. Put it in the tree and he'll be looking up.

Great tips. Thanks all! The crunchy snows will definitely be tough, hopefully if we wait it out before calling right away they will think we have passed on. Glad everyone likes the title haha!
 
On a side note have fun, always enjoy shooting s few yotes. I would recommend one call I've been using for the past years, it's called the dog catcher by primos. It's a weird black tube looking thing that you pull out and push together like an accordion. Its gotten me the best results and over 100 coyotes.

Thanks for the tip tylert, Ill look into the call. Also I know it is a little late to be going out for pelts, when I said im heading out for some fur I more meant that I was just going out to hunt some coyotes haha.

As far as the successfulness of the hunt I'd give it a 0 haha. I don't know what we did wrong, but there was a whole slew of factors that could of contributed to it Such as:

Icy covered snow was INCREDIBLY LOUD, seriously I could hear my buddy from yards and yards away.
Secondly, we were just testing out the speaker and electronic calls, the speaker didnt have enough bass to it I dont think, all of the calls kinda sounded empty, that being said, I don't know very much about what a good coyote call is.
Lastly, There was a group about 1 KM up that was hunting with dogs, and popping off shots every 5-10 minutes, so I am guessing there is a good chance that they got the majority of the yotes that day haha.

Any things you think we could improve upon let us know, we are a couple young guys , with nobody to really teach us, so CGN is as good as it gets!

Mike if you are looking for coyote calling tips try the predator masters forum great chat site. And for coyotes persistence is the key don't give up. You went out in some pretty tough conditions. Your calling conditions and your set up are the keys to killing coyotes. Good luck next time out!

Thanks Cdn! We are definetly going to try it again, we can't be put off that easily haha! Definetly had the odds stacked against us that day haha. Thanks for the help!
