I am looking for a padded shooting mat. I have a non padded version and need something better for rough grounds.

The ones you roll.

What you guys recommend? Nothing super expensive.

Must be waterproof'ish. Anti slip material for elbows.

Thank you.

Hard to beat the one Cabelas sells. $89.99 I think.
Only thing is hot sun the black section gets burning hot and uncomfortable pretty quickly. Now that I think of it I should try using it upside down...
Otherwise its great.

I sewed mine with sections of sleeping pad and smooth canvas. There are straps for carrying and for handling. I think the webbing was salvaged from abandoned shopping carts. Bubbles from TPB hadn't found all the carts in my neighbourhood that day. Yes, it is cheap but at the time I didn't have the $$$ to buy better and it still works just fine.

While not a shooting mat, I use something like this:

Yoga mat. Its padded and rolls up with velcro ties. Come in various color and size. Some ship for free.

I've been using a VooDoo Tactical roll up, for about 4 years. It's a great mat, easy to clean, and waterproof. It's comfortable and can take a real beating. I've used mine in rain and snow, in the dirt, etc... Washed up, it looks new.

My only complaints are the bulky buckles, and the elbow pads are vinyl covered. When the sun's beating down, they get hot. You won't slip, you'll stick.

Center the group dot com. Any colour you want, tri-fold, 4 fold, F Class mats and he has an extra thick FAT Mat that isn't on his website.

Another vote for the Voodoo Tacticalhttp://www.voodootactical.net/popup.aspx?src=images/product/large/2429_1_.jpg
Had mine for about 4 years as well with zero problems-we dont get much snow over here thou, although we have plenty of rain (when I decide to go shooting!)

Mine doesn't roll up - althought I'm sure you could make it - but I've been using the US Peace Keeper Shooting Mat and for the use I've put it through, I don't have any negatives to say about it.

Remember it's for shooting and not for sleeping. I like the fold up types because you can carry gear or short range targets in them. Avoid anything with buckles that are in the way when unfolded but they need a carry handle and a way to tell the which way it's pointed before you unfold.

Eberlestock Magic Carpet. Not at all bulky when rolled up and it has a weighted end so that you can unroll it one handed by just flicking your arm
