Cz958 Review, Accuracy, and Status

Another good review TVP.

How do you like the square'd receiver Vs old school AK sloped stocked for shooting with iron sights on this platform? I'm sure I'll prefer this revised design.

If I was shooting irons, I'd keep the factory folder that still has some angle to it. If I was shooting optics, I'd swap for something aftermarket. I didn't shoot the 958 with a factory fixed stock. Missed opportunity!

I'm not a tinfoil kind of guy, but it sure does sound like the RCMP really does not want any type of this similar looking rifle to be in Canada, and will go at great lengths to prevent this from happening.

No tinfoil either, but agreed. They don't exactly streamline the process at all, nor do they care to. They are unaccountable after all.

Hopefully shooting an FRT-less rifle doesn't land you on the highway to the Daaaaaanger Zone. JK nice review! I may hold out for the chrome lined barrel personally.

I don't hunt, so it's no worries.

Can't stand the sight of squiggly bits LOL

And then you have to carry back what you just shot! I like targets that go *piff* and disappear after I've shot them.

Also factor in whether you want 10 round mags, or to shoot off the range. 7.62x39 ARs have ten rounders thanks to the XCR pistols, but to make those mags fit a Cz you're looking at a new magwell and gun smithing. But NR means you can take it camping and spoon it gently as you fall asleep.

Afterthought: I say in the video that all your regular stocks and grips will fit, but I can think of one that might be a problem:

Because the angle on the receiver is straighter on the 958, the relation between the pistol grip and stock has changed. I could see problems fitting the california-style sporter stock on there. If you're the kind of person who likes sporter stocks...

Thanks for the review TVPP!! I will definitely be adding one of these to my family of cz858/vz58 rifles.

I was just thinking on the angle of the receiver. It'll cause trouble for a lot of stocks? Like any that removed the factory angle? I have three that's not going to work and a fourth one on the way. If they were used the stock would be angled upward.
Like my stormwerkz adapter with Akfx stock and my Rauch tactical stock adapter and just the normal straight AR stock adapter. Well I guess it don't elimate those stocks just have to get new adapters or use stocks that kept the factory angle on the cz858.

Can't wait to get my hands on one!!! Hurry up lab!!! Lol

Damn. I wish I'd had some of those to test.

Great work TV Press Pass! I've been fortunate enough to play on all the SA58 platforms and can't wait to have a turn on one of these.

I really am asking this question from an honest place with no intent to troll. IF this rifle doesn't get approved, or gets classified as prohibited or restricted, isn't this video evidence of you committing a crime?

looks good, but I just can't get over the idea of having no built in rear irons. And slapping on a pair of flip up magpuls or something doesn't seem right to me. dunno why....

Excellent point, but there is a back up rear sight, a small fixed notch at the front of the reciever, not adjustable, but I requested that it has a 100 meter zero. On this pre - production example I felt the notch was to small but lots of time to correct that.

I am surprized at the accuracy, I did expect better. Will change out the butt stock for one that provides a good cheek wield, mount a scope and check her ourselves ASAP. I just need the sun to shine. :)

How could it be? It isn't classified as restricted or prohibited.

Last time I checked my license it said possession and acquisition of a restricted and or non restricted firearm. Not possession and acquisition of an unclassified firearm. Additionally the only reason this firearm is in the country is because Wolverine brought it into the country for the lab to examine with their specific business license. Is TV PressPass an employee of Wolverine so that he is covered by their firearms business license?

Your poking the bear here and that same bear your poking is the one that the judge will be listening to as an expert on firearms if you were to ever see a court room.

This is why some are suggesting caution. However if you think I and anyone else is wrong I have a direct number and email to the lab you can call and see what they think as I brought this up with them once before with something I was planning.

Oh and nice rifle. I wouldn't mind seeing if I could adapt the brand new AK wood sets I have sitting here to it.

Too bad the barrel isn't chrome lined. :p
