I picked up this really nice original SX1 Imp Mod Trap a couple weeks back from a fellow CGN'r. Thought I would share some pics. The gun was NIB unassembled until last fall. I am anxious for spring club opener to get out and crush some clays with it.

Stellar.

Just me, but I'd have to swap out that ventillated pad & white line spacer for a black Pachmayr Decelerator Old English !

Now you'll need to source out a few parts .. recoil spring, bolt buffer, spare extractor/spring/plunger. Wright's ?

Fantastic looking gun. The wood is very drool worthy.

I'd leave it just like it is. It's a classic and should retain the classic look.

The bolt buffer was done last fall by the fellow I bought it from. He also included two spare neoprene bolt buffers and two spare o-rings. He wanted to shoot the gun so made sure it was updated. The gun has the factory installed chrome mag tube some came with. There was a Remington Supercel pad on it but I removed it and put the original back on that he sent with it. He also included a 30" Full Trap Choke barrel in the same condition and a spare receiver in same condition and in fact he the used the full trap barrel to try the gun out last year. He put two flats through the gun. The original Imp Mod barrel has never had a round fired through it. I ordered a stainless steel rebound spring, steel follower and hammer spring last week for this gun and a complete tune up kit for the spare receiver. I will update this one with the rebound spring. rebound follower and hammer spring before shooting it and put the tune up kit in the spare receiver along with the trap full barrel. I just need to find a stock an forend for the spare to make an almost clone to this one. I am going to leave the original recoil pad as I love the look of it. Yes it's a bit hard but recoil from a semi with trap loads isn't really much of an issue. My primary trap gun is an XT Gold Trap with Gracoil. I will just use this now and then for a bit of fun, unless I find I shoot it better than the XT?

Congrats. You found a super nice one for sure
It is some sweet
Unreal the wood winchester put on these guns back in the day

Cheers

Isn't that the truth?!! Off topic somewhat in terms of model but look at the wood and finish on my Model 12 Y Deluxe Field.....serial # puts it at 1976. No wonder they could not produce these guns to compete with the others on the market?!

Spank...please tell me you shoot that M12Y every now and then?!! If not I might have to come find you and show you how it's done at doubles! ;)

I bought that gun in the EE last April. To date I have fired 51 rounds through it!! Two rounds of 16 yard trap and I smoked a crow flying over the driveway with a load of 3 dram 7.5's and he fell dead on the roof of the house. I haven't fired a round through it since then as I had sent it away to put a period correct Winchester pad on it then changed my mind and decided to leave it original. I just got it back last week. Phewww! Glad I left it alone now, it's a beauty!!

You'll be first on my list, now did you get the drop at heel and comb height of that stock we talked about?

No not yet...I have to bolt it on to the skeet gun I have at the apt. or make the drive out to my buddy's where my other guns are in storage and measure one of the trap guns there. I should be off work early today...I'll make the drive.

Beautiful SX-1. The kicker is the IM Trap Barrel is worth more than the Gun itself. For a Trap Gun this one will be a very flat shooter. I have an SX-1 Trap with the high comb Trap stock and it shoots 60/40.
