Kimber, you're paying 1.5 times the price you'd pay for a RUGER SR1911, because it has KIMBER written on it. Seriously. Now a BAER is a serious step into exotica. But....the Dan Wesson is really worth a look.
I recently got my paws on a Kimber target II and a SAM Thunderbolt. The SAM was tighter. And under 600$! You could buy the SAM and a week in Mexico with the savings from the KIMBER.

I've posted this previously. Over the years I've had a variety of 1911's, Gold Cups, a couple of custom jobs and still have two and a 1911 'wanna be'. A couple of years ago, I got the opportunity to pick up a Kimber Super Match II.
Including the trigger pull, it's gotta' be the smoothest, slickest 1911 I've ever had.
LB will be nicer then any kimber, it's a hand fit pistol, rather then a assembled pistol. Nothing wrong with Kimber's, just very expensive for what they are...you get much more for your dollar with the LB. I just picked up a STI Sentry, very favorably impressed with it. And much better fit then kimber as well.
I bought a Kimber Custom Target II for $1050.00 a couple years ago. Great gun and worth the money. Would it compare to a LB for $2700.00? I should think not. Has my Kimber been flawless? It sure has.
I bought an STI Trojan for $1280.00. Is is tighter than the Kimber? Yup. Would the $2700 LB be tighter than the Trojan? I don't know, but the STI is tight.
Would any of these guns stand out in their performance at 7 - 15M? I really doubt it.
This whole tight pistol thing is pretty silly in my opinion. Different horses for different courses. If you are shooting at 50 M use your carbine, I think that 1 1/2" groups will be possible - drunk. Sure it's fun to know what you can do at 50 M with a pistol but honestly what is the point of a bench rested pistol at 50 M other than curiosity?
Buy which ever of these two guns that you can afford and are comfortable with but comparing them and wanting a 50 M pistol is pretty silly.
