.375 purchase assistance required

Hi folks,
Once again thanks to those who decided to offer some sage advice. I don't really know what to say to those who seem to live for an argument other than it's very easy to skip over your posts. I've had the opportunity to fire a Sako rifle, although not the Kodiak and not in .375. But it is a dream rifle and rock solid action. I am going to gamble the $2000 for a Sako 85 in .375 H&H. I just like the idea of a tried, trued and readily available cartridge on several continents. To those who opt for the .375 Ruger, best of luck and good hunting to you.
Cheers,
Roger

I'm sure you will be happy with your Sako, they usually make pretty good guns! ;)

Roger,

good luck on you too.

be sure you have enough clearance with your rings otherwise ejection can be a problem with the sako 85.

You'll enjoy the Sako, it's the nicest 375 I've owned. I'm going to buy a smaller version the Gray Wolf of some caliber yet to be decided...Gonna load up some Barnes 250gr TTSX and see how it shoots. So far with Hornady 270's it seems to be a easy sub moa gun....

I've been dreaming about the Sako Kodiak for years if I were to buy a bolt action mid-velocity 375 cal cartridge rifle combo again this would most definitely be the rifle.

Thanks for the tip medvedqc. With such a large hunk of brass there really isn't a large margin or error for scope mounting is there?

I handled a Kodiak at P&D a few years ago. Very nice rifle though it seemed heavy to me. Should be a pussycat to shoot.

Now...halfway through the third page (only amateurs set their preferences to 10 posts per page), shall we start fighting about what scope he should buy?

Roger,

some 85s are impacted some not by the ejection problem. we seen that with wsm catridges.

you didnt say a word about your scope on it. will you start a thread or continue here?

Oh dear. 11 years on this forum and I just heard you can alter how many posts per page.

Ardent, I was in the same boat until a year ago! Haha

Good thing flying multi-million dollar machines and Internet forums don't have too much in common ;)

...although, the ones I'm starting to play around with have screens everywhere for some reason...

OMG.........not another bed-wetting, sniveling, sling wing driver.............

You boys know the difference between a helicopter pilot and his machine?..........................The machine quits whining when you shut it off.Laugh2Laugh2Laugh2:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I think you will be happy with the Kodiak. This is mine, in a McMillan with a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 in Optilocks - it is very accurate, and the entire package weighs exactly 8lbs 12oz.

That there is about the perfect anywhere, anytime, any weather any creature on earth rifle right there. About the perfect weight for a scoped .375 H&H as well.
