my brother was at canadian tire here in winnipeg and was told corporate will not allow the further sale of semiauto military rifles.
let's let corporate know what we think. i will go as far as to tell them no semiauto no buy anything from you again.
 
Every Cambodian tire is different depending on location. Methinks owner of each franchise has a very big say on what gets sold at their particular store. Some have many guns, some have none.

You are right on that, each owner decides what they want to sell or if they want to at all.
 
Someone else can chime in, but I've heard that most departments carry the same stuff, but the sporting goods department has a lot of leeway to bring in whatever they feel will sell. In chatting with the guy that runs the local CT sporting dept, he more or less has his own budget, and brings in stuff that sells.
 
It all depends on what the store wants to carry in stock. The managers or owner can decide, we have some that just carry ammo only, and others that carry hunting guns, but no surplus stuff. Others stores just carry airguns.
 
Yes, they have semi's now, but I too was speaking with the manager at CT Winnipeg. They are not going to restock semi-auto rifles because the corporate bigwigs said 'no more'. They will only be selling run of the mill hunting type firearms once the current stock is sold out.

Sad news, they were just starting to bring in some cool stuff. Sad to see their balls chopped off.

^^^This!^^^ I have family that has worked for CT for years, it is very much a personal choice for each franchise owner to decide if his store will sell guns and of what type. They have a number of suppliers that they can choose from that have presented themselves to corporate already. Corporate is completely ANTI GUN....but they don't mind the revenue, and won't let their beliefs get in the way of making a dollar .

Definitely! Highly recommended. I picked up two very nice 91/30's from there a while back. Hopefully the is no SA thing is a misunderstanding...
 
It's true that each store is left to carry what they wish (within the restrictions of the business firearms licence they have).

At my store, since we are literally about 10kms from SFRC we don't even bother carrying anything but hunting rifles and shotguns - no mil-surp, no black, no red - nada.

SFRC does a far better job, is better equipped and way more knowledgeable which allows them to service that market. Plus they carry powder, reloading supplies etc that we don't which is why I shop there.

So at least at my store, we assessed what "market" we wanted to serve and carry accordingly. No pressure from Corp or anyone else to carry or NOT carry any given product.
 
I'm in sudbury ontario, one our local CT's had an issue with an SKS.

Seems a customer didn't clean out the cosmo properly, or didn't know to.
The firing pic got stuck and the gun went full auto.
They pulled them off the shelf right away.

I wonder if that had something to do with it.
