10/22 Bolt Buffers

they are very cheap to buy and make the gun smoother to shoot.
instead of the blow back action on the bolt slamming into a metal cross bolt it hits the rubber instead.
we all know that rubber is softer then metal, so instead of a 'clang' you get a nice rubber bounce.
for the $5 or $10 that the bolt buffers cost they really are a very easy upgrade.
that said ive switched all of my bolt buffers over to the Kidd ones because they are so easy to get in and out compared to all the others.
the upgraded Kidd ones, not the pure rubber ones, the one with the metal inner bolt and the rubber outer sleeve.

If you don't tailor your recoil spring to match your ammo the hole for the bolt pin can elongate and damage your receiver.This will happen under extensive use of course but for the price of a softer bolt pin why risk it.You can make one out of white, plastic toilet seat bolts from Home Depot or the like.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPkwsQl6JNw

yea that is the first 'upgrade' that should be done to any 10/22. honestly i dont know why ruger hasnt switched. i dont think there is a single person who has ever said they like the metal one better. and plastic has to be cheaper for them.
I have the Kidd in one and a poly one in the other. Both work fine and make shooting the rifle quieter and smoother.
One of the easiest and best bang for the buck upgrades. Put a bit of grease on it and it will go through the holes way easier.

thats strange.
i have a timney and i dont see where it would do that.
the buffer bolt goes above the trigger group at the back of the receiver which is above the trigger assembly by a inch or so.

and the Kidd bolt buffers are a million billion times better then the plain rubber ones if you take your gun down for cleaning on a regular basis.

and because its Saturday night and there is a blizzard outside and im bored - a short video with the Timney trigger and Kidd Bolt Buffer.
Is that true? Should I install a bolt buffer even though I've got about 1,500 rounds through my 10/22?

no.
ive got a ruger 10/22 with over 100,000 rounds through it and the bolt hole is the exact same as it was back in 1981 when it left the factory.
