hello,i got a norinco m-305 short barrel end of January never got to fired it till last week,to frikking cold lol,I notice the safety is very weak,like the spring safety is very old or something,i took the trigger assembly apart spring look ok but I have nothing to compare it to still almost no resistance on safety when I apply it,any body have a fix or do you know a gunsmith or distributor in Canada that could fix my problem,thank you.

I had a similar problem. The safety was slightly out of spec so that it would not lock on, making it feel weak.
Another CGN member suggested filing down excess metal so that it would fit better, but I just bought a USGI safety from treelinem14. It worked fine after I installed the USGI safety.

hey thanks for the info,when back to the store where I got the rifle told them the problem let see what they will do they have a good reputation for service,if they cant fix it will try your way,where did you order your usgi safety from I am in montreal Canada myself.
The one I encountered would not fully lock into position. If you remove the trigger group and operate the safety it becomes clear where the problem is. I then used a jewelers file to remove a bit at a time until it engaged securely. Patience is the key, remove small amounts and resemble until it works properly. Removing too much material will ruin the safety. With a little practice re-assembly of the trigger group is easy. Initially it can be frustrating.
This one would no go on so you could work it 20,000 times and it wouldn't have helped. Almost any file would work but you'll need to be carefully not to alter the shape or remove too much metal. Emery cloth and a flat surface or a whet stone could do the trick too. Work slow and check your work frequently. My friends now locks with authority, it's a firm push to engage but not sloppy. Resist the urge to give yourself a NM trigger job. Tactical Teacher has a recipe using lapping compound to improve your trigger pull. Works very well.
It almost sounds to me like your safety isn't engaging at all .....did you do a function test on it to see if the safety is engaging ? And do a trigger after assembly test on it to see if the hammer follows the bolt forward when you hold in the trigger while cocking it.
