Hey guys~the other ammo shortage thread seems to focus on what the asking prices are of ammo when people find it, and, who has what in stock. That's cool, but, I'm VERY curious to know what retailers/vendors/distributors are being told by CCI as the stuff has basically dried-up in Canada during the last year. I've emailed CCI numerous times, and get the same...bottled response every time. In a nutshell, they're saying orders are being filled in the sequence they were received. But, I've been working in manufacturing myself for 25 years and that excuse has a shelf life. Eventually, when demand is high, manufacturers make decisions about who gets what, and when, and in what order...and smaller customers can end-up getting the short end of the stick. Smaller customers...as in...Canada. Clearly, some stooge in customer service answering emails from a dummy like me isn't able to tell me more than that...I get it...but what about the big distributors/retailers in Canada? What are they (are you?) being told by CCI? Since it's the ammo (and primers) I used most, I'm almost taking this personally now. I had plans to buy a new 22 shortly but am now considering selling one instead. How can the shortage of good 22 ammo NOT be affecting sales of guns? If CCI is cranking-out as much ammo as their promotional material says they are, who's getting it all?

I have a buddy who is a gunbroker in Texas, he had an order in for 10,000 rounds of Mini Mags and it took 14 months but it was eventually filled last month.

You may be in luck Hairy. I saw a distributor received 400 bricks of CCI Velocitors on thursday. They were sold out on friday. Stores should be receiving them this week.

Shortage, what shortage?

I have enough of it on hand to be furtunate enough to be picky. At the moment I am only specifically looking for velocitors.

My local CT has them but they are 7.97 for a box of 50, and they only let you buy 3, 50 round boxes at a time. I also have enough to be picky for the next few years but I do like velocitors and would love more to find high velocity segmented rounds

I would imagine that Canada is not a priority for the manufacturers, they need to take care of their own first. There is also the issue with Americans coming here and buying ammo to take back to the US. I ran into one guy at CT one day that was from New York and he was going around buying all the .22 ammo he could get his hands on due to there not being any available in the US and what was there was ridiculously overpriced. I'm sure he went back and sold it all for triple what he paid...

Aren't you supposed to have a RPAL, PAL or PO to get ammo over here?
