Winchester 94 AE 44 Mag. Saddle Ring

I have the chance to buy a 1982 Winchester 94AE, saddle ring, in 44 Mag. Can anyone tell me what they are worth ?? It's in like new condition. I know very little about Winchesters.

What year is it? I bought one from 1986 at gagnons for $600 it was a 16" barrel one. 75% condition

$600-$700... depends on how bad you want it...

Sure don't see them come up often for sale. When they do they seem to be in the $6-700 dollar range at least. In "like new" condition a bit higher.

I am told '94s in pistol catridges are prone to "stove piping" the rounds if cycled fast. Just ask the cowboy guys. '94 was designed for longer cartridges, the '92 platform for shorter cartridges. A '92 or a Henry might be a better option or of course you can't go wrong with a JM a Marlin in pistol carts

The 94 in 44 mag did have feeding issues for sure one problem they had was the cartridge lift would bend or break seen a few with that issue .

Never had one single issue with mine in 44 Magnum. Also fired some 44 Special with no hickups either. Don't know what all the fuss is about? I did hear some grumblings about the 357 version though.
I think the 44 Remington Magnum case is just wide enough for proper feeding/function in the M94 which was designed for a rifle type cartridge.

Another advantage for the hunters, the Winchester M94 Trapper often feeds the longer 300 gr bullet loaded to the proper cannelure position. For maximum room for the powder charge.
This is not possible for the 1894 Marlin/Remlin.
