So I just picked up a Springfield M1A Loaded, and I'd like to attach a bipod to the black fibreglass stock. I've seen adapters from Harris, but I'm not too sure as to how they install or how sturdy they are. I've also seen other adapters that replace the stock GI Sling mount, however I've not seen them in Canada.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but I figured I'll show the finished product.

I ended up going with the Sadlak HD Rail. It took some minor modification to the OEM Springfield stock, but it was all explained in detail in the instructions that came with the rail. Turned out really nicely, and is very sturdy.

As far as the bipod goes, I went with the Atlas BT10 V8 from the Calgary Shooting Centre. Excellent bipod, incredibly well built and seems to be very durable.

Did you have to take the stock off to bed install that rail

PitBull1973:

I did have to remove the stock. Luckily, my rifle didn't come bedded, so I didn't have to worry about it. The installation process involves removing the sling mount, boring out the existing holes, applying JB weld to the nut plate, and then using longer bolts to attach the rail over the sling mount.

Very solid.
