Still looking to either build or buy another .22 semi. I see a lot of sr22's for sale and was wondering if they have the same barrel as a regular 10/22?
Better off to buy a dlask setup? or heavy barrel target shooter?

An SR22 is as accurate as can be expected from a short barrel 10/22

SR22 is a fun sub 50 yard plinker. If you want accurate, get a nice bolt action CZ

Lol funny post. The sr has a 16" bull barrel. As far as grouping, its like any other 10/22 just over priced.

Please define "accurate"? If you want .5 to 1 inch groups at a hundred then, no, the stock SR. is not accurate. But.....with mine, I was doing 8 inch groups 24/25 offhand at 135 yards....to me that's the kind of "Accurate" I like!

Mine was a 2-3" 5 shot group shooter at 30 yards. Spray and prey for gophers farther then that. Plus is was extremely heavy to carry when walking around for hours shooting gophers.

If your ever near Calgary, I have $100 with your name on it to show my 135yds offhand @ 96% @ 8"

Depends largely on the shooter and the ammo. The usual stuff found at crappy tire and walmart won't give you great groups, but its hardly the guns fault. Its a semi auto rifle, so accuracy(in the wow crazy good sense) is not what Ruger had in mind when they designed it. The barrel length has no bearing whatsoever, in fact shorter barrels are stiffer and according to some other sites the sweet spot for .22lr is right around 16 inches.

I found mine was really heavy and parts liked to come lose. I shot my regular 10/22's better...mostly because of the heavy weight of the SR22.

16" is a good length with a conventional setup. any longer and you would really want a rear tang to hold everything down at the back. also the vblock begins to be an issue at that point as well although with high quality parts and a tight fit its ok. also going with the 20" barrels there is choice for tuners to slap on the end. im only aware of one tuner for anything under 20".

I bought a used 10" Ruger Charger barrel installed it on my 10/22 which sits in a 556r kit, shoots well with the right ammo.

The best group was when I spaced out my shots.

The target says 50 yards which is the max at Shooters, have not tried .22 target subsonic yet but am curious. My Anschultz bolt shoots way better than my semis.

Ammo makes all the difference, can I get half since it was 50 yards? :)

Geez I might have borrow some cash and pickup something from magnum research. The m.r. I shot on the wknd was one hole half inch at 80 yards mind you that was a magnum.
