Around 20 coats of BLO followed by 3 coats of amber shellac. I hand rubbed the shellac so it didnt get blotchy and Its taken me just under 3 months to Finnish this because I wanted the BLO to cure fully and dry between coats. I wanted a original finish but wanted the grain to show. I plan to give it a coat of shellac every time i clean it after a range day from now on followed by sanding up into the 1000 grits.

I think it looks great! I love that you returned the brass caps to their original sheen. One or two of my extra 91/30s may have the same dark paint over their brass. I'd like to remove that too. Anything special you used on the brass?
