So i saw some "cool mosin" posts and reckoned I should chime in. This is my "precision mosin" in the archangel stock. I had fun making it so the "This much $$$ in stuff and only 160$ in gun… blah blah" doesnt really matter. Punching gongs/coyotes/deer way out with nice glass makes up for it.

So heres the build list because i heard folks are into it:

Archangel
Timney trigger
Rock solid scope mount, bent bolt
Custom fitted/floated/bedded/shortened by the best gunsmith in canada
Cerakoted "Dirty Yeti Kryptek" by Team Squirrel! Designs

So far its just been sighted in indoors. Basically it made one 8mm hole with 5 rounds. We shall see how that holds up at 100 and 500.

Not gonna lie, I slept with it the first few nights…

I went this way as well. ATI Monte Carlo Stock, glass bedded, floated barrel, trigger job set super light, ATI scope mount with a bent bolt polished to a shiny luster for a smooth action rear sight removed and barrel cut. I just got through shooting it today.

I just did a nice crown on it with a crowning tool from Brownells. I'm very pleased with it. Today it shot quite well with both Chinese and Bulgarian Milsurp ammo. I'm typically a terrible shot as well so I was ecstatic with these shots 100M

There's something really satisfying about shooting a tuned up rifle made in 1942 with $0.25 ea ammo and actually hitting the bullseye at 100M.

Great looking rifle, I like the Monte Carlo style of stocks on milsurps.

^^ Thanks! ^^

Although, it's not exactly precision accurate when I'm shooting it with Milsurp ammo, I have to think it'd do pretty good with hand loads and in the hands of a real marksmen. I'm going to keep practicing. I had a blast running though 250 rounds. Everyone else shooting a high power round at the range that day blew their ammo budget pretty quick at $1 a shot. Also got a lot of people recognizing the pile of 54r next to me and asking if it was a Mosin. They wanted to know all about the mods and how to do them. I guess it makes a conversation piece as well. I just like shooting it...

Let us know how it shoots at 100M. I'm curious to know what kind of accuracy a Mosin is capable of. Slick pain job by the way! How'd they get the pattern on there? Decal?

So I JUST went out and got to shoot it. used a vortex 3-9 diamond back on it, not the best optic but good enough to see stuff i suppose. With the chinese milsurp it was a bit spotty. about 5" at 100. But then I plunked in some Hornady BTHP match rounds and it drilled them into about a 2" group at 100yrds. This was all from worlds worst shooting position on the ground, no bipod etc. So im going to fix a bipod and get it on a bench and see how the ammo groups with more stability. I think the match will tighten up to sub MOA and the milsurp will come in at a clay breaking consistency. I remember this same mosin action crushing clays at 100 from a vice in its original stock.

So far im impressed. Well worth it IMO. Im thinking, based on previous experience, that the euro milsurp rounds will group tighter than the chinese.
