I have less than a dozen paper packages of Russian 7.62x54R marked снайперские. A trusted source tells me this is Sniper's ammo. What does the Collective Wisdom think about this?

"снайперские" means "sniper's" in Russian so yes, you are correct. Cool piece of history you got there. Where did you get them, if you don't mind me asking?

Have some left too, almost fired it before I realized what it was, unfortunatly they are all loose rounds

7N1 ammo was being sold by the crate a few years back.

These were made for use in dragunov rifles. If used in other rifles may not be as accurate. If one reloads X54R you can be sure that ammo they make can be on par with snaipers ammo. Equal bullet weight, case length, charge and primers makes the difference.
