Friend of mine picked up this older ducks unlimited 870 12 ga. It has never been fired. It's a vent rib magnum full choke. 30 inch barrel....all matte finish
Any idea on value of this?

1982 edition d.u gun as a 870 $350-$400 the du part maybe $450-$550 . On the us side they list for $550-&900 for one new in the box . But the reality is we are not in Kansas . Toto !

I looked on Google but most posts are from few years back. And of course us is different on values. Well as far as u know he's keeping it but you never know i might end up with it.

Unfortunately it's ugly and worth what a used 870. If it's built off of a wingmaster ask used wingmaster price.

Agree

Prophet River had one near identical and it was listed for a LONG time if memory serves at $875. I do believe the last price I saw on it was $675 but I could be wrong and it still wasn't selling. In Canada it's worth whatever an 80's Wingmaster Magnum NIB unfired would go for?

I bought an unfired, mint condition, 1983 DU "The Mississippi" 870 Wingmaster last year around this time and paid $600 for it. There's 3 good reasons I paid that much: 1) Someone had replaced the original wood with extra fancy Trap wood that was worth about $500 and the shop I bought it from didn't have a clue. 2) It is one of only 4000 Wingmaster 870s ever produced to have left the factory with a 32" vent rib barrel. 3) I absolutely love the huge DU logo on the right hand side of the reciever!

With patience it will fetch $550. Anyone with half a brain would realize they can buy that gun at that price, pay $100 to have it threaded for Carlson's TruChokes and get 1 each a Skeet, Light Mod, and Improved Mod in their extended Sporting chokes for an extra $165 and still be under the price of a current production Wingmaster by about $100 and better quality too!

I had one of these in my original batch of 13 NIB DU guns and sold it here on the EE. I started with 750 and ended up selling it for 600 plus shipping. I would not take any less than 600 IMO and if in no rush it will sell. Be prepared for tons of tire kickers who think it is worth a lot less which it is not even in Canada
Me if I had my day over I would have got choke tubes installed and shot it . It would still be in the safe
Cheers

These "collector" guns are gimmicks used by manufacturers to sell guns, and tend to not increase in value as the original purchasers had hoped.

I will take that $1000 bet in a heartbeat and as for prophet river used prices they are way out of line they are consighent guns and clay let's the owners price them they are worse than. EE .

We do sell 5-10 guns a day from consignment. I think what happens is the firearms that are priced high accumulate in the inventory while the 'fair' or cheap ones go vbery quickly. I've never seen consigments sell as quickly as these last weeks as the new prices are going up so much with the dollar falling.

That may be true Clay I watch your site closely because there are some nice pieces listed and yes some of the over priced ones have been on for a long time .
