sig p226 help me please!

I have a sig p226 and frankly Ive been unhappy about that pistol for about 2 years now. My last attempt before just plain giving up and selling it is to reduce the grip size by putting in some e2 grips.
Where can I find these grips?
 
Calgary Shooting Centre just got some in. I have smallish hands and replaced my P226 trigger with the short reach trigger, made a big difference, so much so that I have decided to try Hogue G10's (if I can ever find a set for a decent price) instead of the E2's. Cabelas in the states had the G10's on sale a while back for a very good price, but of course that does us no good!

My Impression is that they are not slimmer than the E2 but I have never had either so don't take my word for it. I am now comfortable with the fit that the Short Reach trigger has provided so I really don't need the extra reach that the E2 might provide. I think the G10 would give me just a bit more reach. In a perfect place we could try each combination before buying but unfortunately, at least in my case, I have to buy to try.

Do you have the Short Reach Trigger? If not I think you should try it. You would gain maximum reach with that and the E2 kit.
 
The combination of the E2 grips and the SRT trigger will most likely give your smaller hands a 'made for me' feeling with the pistol. I have large hands and the base 226 grip plates with no SRT worked well with me as does my elite version with the 2 upgrades.

I'm reading that the aluminum and G10 grips are thinner, unsure by how much. The E2 is the smallest and has improved ergonomics. Unfortunately, I don't think these upgrades are very cheap... Sig accessories will cost you a few bucks.

If you cannot find these upgrades, I suggest you get into a P239 as it has a single stack mag. Even the full sized P220 is a single stack and can be had in 9mm. The grip on my Sig Pro is also smaller than the P226.
 
The short reach trigger is a must. The Hogue G10 are slimmer than stock SIG grips but won't aid in trigger reach where the E2 grips will. The slimmer grip does allow you some extra forward reach compared to stock though.
 
short reach trigger or short reset trigger? are they the same thing or are they two entirely different things?

ive been thinking about buying a p226 as my next gun and was wondering which model comes with the SRT and E2 grips from the factory? does the Enhanced Elite model have those?
 
Short Reach trigger is different from Short Reset Trigger.
The Short reach is only a different trigger for smaller finger while the SRT (reset) shorten the reset when firing.

They are two entirely different things, confusing because of the similarity in name. The SRT kit or Short Reset Trigger reduces the travel in Single Action but does not alter double action travel.
 
Nope. Short reach trigger is a thinner trigger which makes the trigger reach shorter, hence short reach trigger. The SRT is the short reset trigger which isn't even a trigger part but a different sear and safety lever which makes the trigger reset shorter.
 
If I may.............

I have found a used P226.

It's in .40 S&W, all black, with a rail, has an external hammer (DA/SA), short external extractor, made in the USA, has night sights and the E2 grip.

I am not 100% sure what model it is.................Nitron................P226R..............? It does not say stainless on the slide, but from what I have researched, the slide is machined from a billet of stainless steel and the frame is aluminum. I think it's a "plain" model, that was produced after Sig did away with the E2 model and started putting the E2 grips on several models. I found a forum website, where a gent has listed models, based on info from P226 owners, showing the first few numbers of the serial number, but mine isn't there (see link below). Have any of you ever called Sig to find out your model and date of manufacture? Mine starts with "UU"..........:confused:

What I see is that the E2 grip forces your hand too low on the grip. I like a high grip, and even though I've got small hands I prefer the standard grips.
