A friend of mine is moving into a long term care home and brought me 3 guns. I intend to sell them and give him the money but I need some help.
This one is a K98 that I believe is refurbished. The receiver is made by BRUNO. There is no date stamp on it only the letter D below the serial number and E3 in front of and a little below the serial number. The bolt has a different serial number and the magazine is is stamped as found on those Israeli amusers. The bore is perfect with no bluing loss and is likely new. The stock is walnut with no dings in it also no serial number on it. Bolt still has packing grease on it and it may not have been fired since it was refurbished. The butt plate is aluminum. The barrel bands are not machined but appear to be made of stamped metal and welded together,
I'm thinking of hauling it off to a gun show and would like an idea as to it's value.
There are no other markings so I believe a picture would not show anything.

Minimum or $350 up to $500 but without pics that's about as much as you get. If it has been cut down as a sporting rifle $250 at most, unless there is something special about it.

Sounds like a Post war Czech build. do you know if it's still in 8mm or has it been converted by the Israelis to 7.62?

Buttplate won't be aluminum. Steel, in the white.

It's still 8mm and I believe it is a brand new barrel and new walnut stock to the K98 config. Also the floor plate and bands on the fore stock appear to have absolutely no wear but the are stamped like like the Israeli conversions.

It's a post war Czech K98k. Stamped bands are not just on Israeli conversions, although they did make their own, and can be found on WW2 German production as well as post war Czech and Israeli. Yours are most likely post war although they could be recycled or left over WW2 parts as the Czechs used up all sorts of stuff when they continued K98k production up to 1950 or so.

This is all just a best guess based on your info. I'd need to see pics to make a definite call on it. Good clear pics are a must for positively identifying what you have.
