I have a few questions about Soviet uniforms.
I am thinking it would be interesting to have a real, correct one along side my SVT's (and my PTRD!)

Does anyone have any experience with these guys?

And is that a TRUE WW2 uniform? They call it an M69. If that is the year of adoption, we have a problem.
Price seems good, shipping is killer.
(Just for S&G, I went thru the whole order checkout to see what shipping is within USA. Airmail $70 ! )

Any other places to get real Soviet WW2 uniforms?

Also considering a helmet, either M36, Ssh-39 or Ssh-40

IMA has "Soviet style" knock-offs made elsewhere.

Real Soviet Ssh-40 helmet, but ships from Russia.

Any other options to be aware of? Thanks!

I used to order from sovietarmystuff but they're site hasnt been updated in a while theyre ebay account went dead and trying to contact results in no responses so dunno been like that for a few years now

That's not the correct WW2 uniform, the shirt is a more a golf shirt style and the boots are a few inches shorter.

Try Hessian Antique and Ebay.

Soviet Helmets didn't really change from WWII to the 1980's except for liner styles (similar to the Nato M1 Helmets). Corwin Arms has great Czech Helmets (same design) which can be repainted to the proper colour for about $40-50 versus the $150+ for an "original" helmet which may be a fake.

Lots of guys just go with the padded pants/jacket - again - post war they didn't change very much and a set cost ~$100

Regards

There is few stores out there that sale Czech Helmets as Russian. Difference is very small, shell is basically the same, main difference is the suspension and its attachment. More scratched helmet is Czech, Nicer one is Russian. If I grabbed Czech of the same shell size as the Russian outside is the same

I emailed them around the fall of 2014 and got a response back. I asked them if they were still able to ship given the situation over there. They responded within 48hrs, and they said it was still not a problem.

Go to Esty.com. There is a dealer from Latvia selling original shirts for 30 bucks. Search soviet shirt and he comes up. Taste Vintage is his name and he has 597 positive reviews so he is a good guy to deal with.

If you find a genuine one, check for bullet holes. The Soviets apparently even reclaimed the underwear of their dead. ;)

Grizz

I guess when half your population is either invaded and turned into slaves, starving, freezing to death or being mowed down as cannon fodder you take the dead's underwear.

For reference try the Osprey Men-at-Arms series:

There are 3 volumes in this series http://www.amazon.ca/World-War-Soviet-Armed-Forces/dp/1849084203/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1426909852&sr=1-1&keywords=osprey+men+at+arms+soviet

Steve Zaloga (who I used to know slightly) is an Authority. http://www.amazon.ca/Red-Army-Great-Patriotic-1941-45/dp/0850459397/ref=sr_1_10?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1426909870&sr=1-10&keywords=osprey+men+at+arms+soviet

I suggest non-standard silk undies. Those wool uniforms were itchy!
