Tried to weld a steel side rail to the receiver of my CSA Vz 58 this aft..... using a mig welder, I could not get a proper bond :( I also noticed the receiver wouldn't blue nearly as easily as my other Russian guns.... wonder if there's something about the metallurgy of the CSA receiver that sets it aside from the easy to weld Russian receivers? has anyone had success welding on a CSA receiver ? *thankfully the receiver was not damaged by the Welding* :)

The Vz58 is Czechoslovakian... Not Russian.

This thread doesn't make sense.
ALL csa rifles are tapped from the factory for he side mount so I have no idea why you would want to weld anything on to it and if it isn't already tapped then it definitely isn't a csa then

The side rail im using is different, and would require serious modifications to make work with the pre tapped holes, presuming that the CSA receiver was milled from solid steel (not cast) I thought it would weld easily, guess I was wrong, so now i have to modify the mount to work with the pre tapped holes....

If at all possible, modify existing removable fixtures to fit the rifle. If you mod the gun you will kick yourself.
