powder prices

Companies are making more powder than any other time in history(including world wars), but people are buying up huge stockpiles and not shooting it, leaving the new guys and the high volume shooters with nothing. In every single way, gun owners are our own worst enemy.

Shhhh! Don't use logic or common sense on CGN, you'll get flamed! This is tin-foil hat territory.

I recently paid $48.00 + 13%Tax per lb for IMR powders.

Wow indeed! I will try to refrain from buying any powder that is over $40 a pound for the near future, but if you need some powder and don't have any, well I guess you buy what you can find.
Lets hope prices stabalize if not come down a bit in the future.

Just bought 2kg n320 for $189. That worked out to aprox 42.95 lb before hazmat fees. Brownells sells it for $36.99 lb US. Seems reasonable. Just wish it was local cause of shipping.

The dealers are price gouging and blaming it on the exchange rate. Try Higginson Powders or Lawry's Targets, both in Ontario. Their prices are reasonable.

No matter how many times people mention these sources it doesn't change the fact they are almost perpetually out of stock of anything useful.

Picked up 5lbs of Titegroup at $41/lb taxes in from a local store. Didn't really need it as I received quite a bit of my favourite powder from another sponsor =o) . If anyone wants it you can have it for what I paid for. Local only though, prefer someone who doesn't have any powder to load with.

X2

Having just researched powder prices all over the US from large to small dealers and considering our ####ty dollar, we are paying way too much . I would assume all the dealers are buying from their regular distributors and shipping with the same companies, so their costs should not have jumped enough to try and justify the new pricing. Gouging you say, no #### !! But, we are trapped and have no choice, what else can we do ? I might have to pay an outrageous price if I really need it, BUT, I will forever remember that dealer and a whole lot less business will happen with them in the future. Don't get made at a dealer ripping you off, get even and spend your hard earned money elsewhere ! IMHO

$55 is a total ripoff. Any dealer charging that should be ashamed of themselves. Most likely old stock as well.
