Hi Everyone,
I got a new US made P226 Extreme and I realized that the frame and the slide has completely different numbers on them.
The serial number on the frame has 2 numbers + 1 letter + 6 numbers.
the number on the inside of the slide has only 6 numbers but they are different than the ones on the frame.
there are no numbers on the barrel.

Is this normal ? my first p226 so I can be absolutely clueless.

Thanks !

I'm no SIG expert but I think that means some German parts were used but it was assembled in the US. Someone with more SIG experience will come along shortly to correct me, lol.

I'm no expert either but perhaps the seller/ store fitted the wrong slide to the frame by accident? What serial number shows up on your registration?
I would definitely ask the store about this! Sounds very odd to me! Could be a legal issue with the CFO. This ain't a Mosin you're talking about here!

I have a German manufactured p-226, and all the numbers match....

Isn't that plus the proof mark how you tell it's a German SIG?

I thought I read once that mismatched was a sign that some German parts were used but that it was assembled in the US.

That makes sense when the original factory ships out for assembly elsewhere.

The number on the slide isn't a serial number, it's either a lot number or a part number. If your frame has starts with a 47A it won't have a serial number on the slide or barrel.

I have a P226 Extreme as well, and my numbers do not match either. I have been given two possible explanations:
1. Possibly at some point during Quality Control checks an issue might have been noticed that required switching the matching numbered slide with a new (different) slide; or
2. Simply that the P226s which are assembled in the USA do not always have matching numbers.

The important thing is to ensure that the serial number on the frame matches the serial number on the case and most importantly, that it matches with the RCMP registration.
