I'm a new Ruger 22/45 owner, and I really like the Hogue rubber grips, based on shooting someone else's 1911 fitted with one of these. I'm looking for grips like the one shown in the pic below (no, that's not my gun):

Who sells these grips? Does anyone know if any of the Calgary gun shops sell them?

Thanks in advance.

You sure they actually make one for the 22/45 or did someone just retro fit one for the 1911 to their 22/45 frame?

Thanks guys. I did get a gun with removable grip panels.

I do see the grips for my gun on the Hogue site, but shipping and exchange makes that rather pricey.

Amazon.ca shows it, but currently unavailable for the Ruger 22/45. Amazon would have been nice and easy, with free shipping. It seems they have Hogue grips in stock for every other pistol other than mine right now.

That's why I'm wondering if any of you have seen it in your LGS or at one of the site sponsors.

Thanks!

Grips for the 22/45 are also 1911 grips.
This should make your search easier.
Hogue ships to Canada now, by the way.

A word of warning, Hogue also makes them with thumb rest on the left grip for right-handers.......... but only for the Mark III extreme angle grips, not the 22/45-1911.

1911 grips will fir the 22/45. No finagling required.
I have about six or seven. I change them so often that at the club
they think I have a dozen 22/45s and GSG 1911s

I need to put up some "embarrassed" smilies here....

Here I've been into 1911's for a very long time, actually own a 22/45 with the removable grips.... yet I never knew that.

Just goes to show you, there's always something new to learn.

'Course then again, I've never been much of a fan of the rubbery Hogue wrap around 1911 grips anyway.

Well, now you know. You could put a set of new grips on your 22/45 if you so desired.

My choosing a Ruger 22/45 was nothing to do with liking 1911s, but more because I choose to buy the most reliable guns available. I wanted a 22 pistol that will eat ANY ammo, and also be a more conventional grip angle than my Glock. I have largish hands, so the Hogue grips help to give me more to grab on to.

But the Ruger one's are so purdy! :)

Also have a MkIII 22/45 without the removable grips but has the 4.5" slab-side barrel.

But you're right about the Ruger .22 lr's reliability [and accuracy].... I've owned a MkII 5.5" bull barrel for many years - it's phenomenal.

Cheers.

Ruger 22/45 Lite does have its own grip from Hogue that is NOT the 1911 one.
i know because i have them.

the only real difference is you dont have to cut out for the safety.
also you can see on the right side that the mag release cut out does not match up.

here are some normal 1911 wrap around grips on my 22/45 Lite - i just had to get a razor and do some trimming to get them to fit.

and these are the ones that are made for the 22/45 Lite that have all the stuff cut out for them already, if im not mistaken the Hogue number for them is 82080 (?)

as for ordering them ive picked them up directly from Hogue, i usually just wait till i have a couple that i need or a friend and order a couple to make the shipping worth while.

Amazon.ca says Hogue model 82080 are currently unavailable.
Brownell's has no stock.
Hogue wants just as much for shipping as the grips cost themselves ($25 US). That's crazy - I'm not paying $60 for rubber grips.

I'd really like to get the the real Hogue 82080 for the Ruger 22/45 as shown on WAYUPNORTH's 2nd pistol shown above. I could have bought the 1911 version at the Calgary gun show, and maybe I should have, but I'm picky about these things.

I could get them from a seller on ebay.ca, for $20 US, but how does that work? He is an ebay store in the USA, and I'm a bit nervous about my order getting grabbed at the border.

What other online dealers in the Canada or USA (who will ship to Canada and know how to do it without problems a the border) could I buy from?

I think grips will come across no problem...I got a Timney trigger last year from Brownells no problem. They sent me some kinda paper to fill out and email back to them about not reselling or bringing it back into the US. can't remember for sure
