As a striker fire, even without a trigger job, the M&P pull would be under 10lbs. Mine started out of the box at 6.
From a previous comment on not having a thumb safety, The m&p uses a trigger safety, so as you pull it, it hinges clear allowing the trigger to move rearward to release the striker. As a result, the reset only seems long if you fully release the trigger for you next shot. In some respect, the trigger behaves as a DA for movement; again a designed safety feature. With a bit of work you can shorten the reset and the full travel forward, but you need a different trigger safety for the latter.
