Personally, if you've already got a 9mm pistol or pistols that work for you then from a practical perspective, I'd skip the Walther. But since money is no object another polymer 9mm pistol isn't going to break the bank.
I handled a S&W Model 69 last weekend. Nice wheelgun. However, it's a 5 shot on the L frame. If you're shooting .44 reloads down to .44 Spl specs then maybe fun to have. Doubt I'd want to put too many full house .44 Mag loads thru it though. Likely very punishing on the hand bones. Not to mention, it's dubious to me as to how long an L frame will hold up to that. Personally, I'd rather have the 6 shot Model 629 with the 4.2" barrel. If you already or still have one of those then the Model 69 just seems redundant.

I have a 629 4.2 all ready, thought the 69 was a big improvment over the 629 ( huge revolver )and since i got my Bersa Thunder Pro 9, i think it will be hard to make a better 9 than this Bersa ( trigger and accuracy are outstanding) and it easily surpass my G17L and my Steyr L9 A1... JP.
The Model 69, on the L frame, makes an excellent gun to shoot 44 special loads. If you like feel of the shorter barreled 686's, but you want a big bore, calibre, you can't go wrong with the 69. In my opinion, it is just a "neat" 5 shot, handy, plinking gun.....
nope. it is just L-frame with 44 mag shoehorned into, with some mods (ball detent) to hopefully handle 44 mag a little better, targeted sat omeone who wants a smaller wilderness carry. i like the 69, but i don't reload. The 629 4.2 is the sweet spot for a compact 44 mag. if you have the 629 4.2, the 69 is a little redundant imho.
Agreed; the 69 is at is best with 44 Special loads. In fact, I consider this gun to be a 44 special, with the option of occasional use 44 mag loads.
This is definitely a reloaders revolver, as 44 special factory ammo is difficult to find, and expensive if you do.
I believe the L frame to be the real sweet spot for an actual compact 44. Have a look at the Hickok45 review....
