Linear Comp on a Tavor....easier on the ears?

Just purchased a Tavor. Before anyone says anything I usually have Ear Protection on. But I have read that Bullpups are louder than conventional rifles (barrel closer to you). I plan on doing some close in Yote Hunting (150 Yard Max). Would a Linear Comp help with the muzzle blast compared to the standard A2 Bird Cage?

Lastly I did some research and have decided on the comp I want. But of course it's in the USA. Is there anyways to Import a comp or am I SOL?

Not louder, just closer.

Yes, but at increased recoil and you can't really get rid of the noise, just send it elsewhere. Some comps are downright obnoxious for the shooter or bystander.

Except for a suppressor, everything is a trade off, you have to give up something to get something else.

Less recoil, more noise, less noise, more recoil.

Yeah, that's the short, coles notes version. YMMV.
 
Linear comps we make are not flashiders, they control the blast and push it foward, as they have no side ports
This helps keep the noise down range, also adds to the dwel time so helps with SBRS
 
It's the short barrel that increases the blast. I'm not to fond of it. Can't speak to an 18.5" barrel but a 26" has nothing to speak of and the 16" AR I use to own was greater than I'd like (that was side by side last time at the range). Last trip to Yankee range had a forum member beside me with his 10.5" CQ-A and a linear compensator (S&J if I'm not mistaken). The reduction in blast was much greater than I would have expected. I stood right over him and it was better than a 16" AR with A2 flash hider.
 
I had a linear comp on both my SBR AR and my Tavor...and I didn't really think it reduced the noise for me all that much. I went back to the factory birdcage on my Tavor.

I have a S&J linear comp and have used it on my XCR. I found that the noise level to be the same as without the comp.
 
My RFB came with a linear comp on it, it's a mixed blessing....

I don't have a Tavor to compare it too but I can speak from owning a CQ-A and a T97 and even my M14, it takes away the blast wave you get with the A2 style flash hider and that sharp piercing snap that comes with it, if your shooting from a covered firing line you won't notice much noise reduction but the the lack of a shock wave is almost surprising... When you go into the field with it in wide open spaces it starts to shine.... I'm not saying it's comfortable in the case of the RFB to have a .308 going off 16" from your face without ear protection but it does tone it down to slightly louder than hunting rifle territory...

The mixed blessing part is muzzle rise... If that matters to you and you need something to control it then look elsewhere, the only way these reduce it is by a couple oz's of weight dangling off the end of the tube...

I remember when a 20" barrel on a .308/.223 was laughable. Even on a bolt action rifle which put the muzzle several inches further forward, the muzzle blast was significant.

Now 16" barrels are the norm on black rifles and the misnamed SBR's have even less. Still wresting with the nomenclature, calling a 16" version a "Patrol Carbine" and much shorter versions "Short Barrel Rifles".
 
I have the Allen Gun Works Linear Comp on my 7.5" AR, and the lack of a muzzle blast is noticeable, and the noise is tossed down range more. I ordered a couple muzzle breaks from lapolicegear.com, it's an American site and they have a pretty good selection of stuff, if you don't mind a bit of a wait.
 
I've dressed mine up with Troy Claymores, really happy with the results so far. It still kicks up a bit of dirt and dust when prone, but it all goes away from you and anyone next to you...
