This is coming out next month...

"Battle for Sevastopol (Russian: "Битва за Севастополь"; Ukrainian: "Незламна") is biographical film about the life path of Lyudmila Pavlichenko woman-sniper who became a hero during the siege of Sevastopol in 1941–1942. Work on the film began in 2012, whereas the filming started at the end of 2013 and finished in June 2014. Distribution on the screen is expected to be held in spring 2015."

Plenty of Mosin Nagant goodness.

At 0:44 she is holding a sniper SVT-40 !!

Is this 1942 when the Germans captured it, or 1943 when the Soviets retook it?
If it's Russian I assume they filmed the recapture....1943...not 2014.

[self-censorship] I guess it's about 1942 just judging by Lyudmila biography, she was withdrawn from active duty in summer of 1942. My friends reeanactors from UA who participated in filming and those who watched some scenes tell it's typical Hollywood style action with a mix of strong drama "woman at war" component. So if one likes Stalingrad (2013) and Enemy at the Gates (2001) he'll probably like this one too. I prefer Stalingrad (1993), Die Brücke aka The Bridge (1959) (or it's 2008 remake) and Das Boot (1981).

P.s. movie was a joint project, 70% of Ukrainian money and 30% of Russian. All filmed in UA.

For all who wanted to see that movie... I watched it and I wasted 2 precious hours of my life. POS of lowest category. Weak plot, not a war movie and not a drama. Abysmal actors play. Absolutely not historically accurate - both biographically and firearm/gear wise. I should have turned that off the moment I saw MN with PU scope in 1941! Really??? Why not AK-47 - it was also just couple of years later. There are movies I like and can watch late at night, there are bad movies that I fell asleep while watching, but this one was so horrible I could not fall asleep! I'm thinking about starting petition asking to NOT TRANSLATE this movie in English ever and save the minds of English-speaking milsurplus community from that horror.

Sounds like a great movie, thanks for the heads up!
