Powders?

I've started buying gun powder by the 8 pounders and am fine for rifles...but I missed the boat on the pistol stuff! Do you know if any of the suppliers has a stash? I am seeking Titegroup or W231 for my 45ACP...
 
You just missed the boat. Wholesale and P&D just had W 231 in stock but some A**hat bought them out.Expect to see them reappear on the EE or at a local gunshow for a smoking deal!

I got 2 pounds of the 231 that P&D had, they would have happily sold me more, but I didn't want to be one of the hoarder jerks. Unfortuinately some shooters think they need a 5 year supply, so the tightness of powder supply will continue.

5 years is way too short of a plan.
 
ya that is gouging.. unless he factored in gas for a l o n g drive to get it (in a huge truck). I'll pay $45 for a pound if I am really desperate, but $50 for a pound crosses my 'line'. Makes me wanna get a musket and start brewing up some 'classic' BP... as it is likely easier :)

I stock up when I can.. it is 8lb cans from now on, and I split with a buddy if I can.. Bullets and primers too. Bulk order splitting is the way to go. Luckily a pound of pistol powder goes a reasonably long way when compared to what I load for 30-06! And I have re-discovered the joy of my .22LR, having sourced out a couple of bricks of ammo
 
$50 for me is too much to pay. Starts to creep up to the price of loaded ammo. Placed a back order at Cabelas for some 231, VV320 about 6 weeks ago. Hopefully they will arrive by Halloween :)

It's time to rethink reloading when powder starts getting over $50 a lb., primers $50 per 1K
But, then again, ammo and local custom ammo makers will increase price too.
One can see why the hoarding will continue.
