Hi guys, brand new gun owner here. I have purchased an SKS for my first gun, and intend to improve the trigger which is currently gritty and heavy and with a lot of creep.

Im going to follow the steps and info from this video:

https://youtu.be/KMSEWSDeprQ?list=UU...5eKP7VlRBa0XBw

I have no previous gunsmithing experience but am a handy guy and already had all the tools needed for this except small enough punches which I have now purchased.

I feel confident as I am an decent menchanic so have experience working with metal parts and grinding/polishing small metal parts. I can also weld well so this doesn't intimidate me at all, I feel confident working with metal which is probably a good thing.

So do you guys have any pointers or things I should watch out for?

FYI current trigger is setup with negative engagement pretty much exactly like the trigger showed in the video I posted, it has so much creep im sure its safe but I want to reduce the pull, and get it setup with positive engagement.

Not looking for a match trigger or anything just want to get the creep under control, and get the pull down to 10lbs and ill be happy. And with a safer positive engagement.

Will install the wolf spring kit as well.

Just follow the video, Im down to 4 Lbs on mine.

Biggest thing is don't take off to much metal at once.

Easy peasy

:p

I will dedicate a whole afternoon to it, so wont be in a rush and will go in small steps, will mark with a marker to make sure im taking off even layers as well.

You could always get a trigger from lever arms to practice on

In theory when Canada post decides to actually deliver my SKS from Corwin arms ill have 2 of them. Then im going to try this first on my junker from wholesale sports, then if it goes well ill try it on the one from corwin arms(which im assuming is going to be a much nicer rifle)
