Im wondering who carries these im looking at a scout style rifle i like the Steyr but thats steep for the price. Im looking for a synthetic stock. Bolt action somthing with good moa and ergo but not to steep a price.
If you got one how do u like it ?
 
Any dealer that carries/deals with Mossberg should be able to get you one.

A quick check with my Mossberg wholesaler shows 2 versions of the 7.62 (but both lam stocks) and 3 versions of 5.56 currently in stock and Mossberg is carried by a few wholesalers in Canada, so stock will certainly vary.

I have the steyr and I also bought the MVP patrol in 7.62.

I sold the MVP prior to ever firing a round. First of all the stock is painted wood, it is really heavy and unbalanced compared to the steyr, the magazines do not lock up well, if you insert one on an open bolt it goes in too far and I had pmags that fell right out with just handling the rifle, the bolt is as slopy and notchy as it gets, to the point where my wife could not operate the action while keeping the rifle shouldered.

Not something I could recommend to anyone
 
Store is no longer in business and it was back around 2005 or so, prices have gone up considerably since. I would buy it again at todays prices though, I actually keep looking for someone who has one with the set trigger in stock. Relable gun has one non set trigger in stock I beleive

Not exactly a scout gun, but for that I have a Ruger so it is a moot point.

Did you see a weight reduction going to the LSS chassis?

I wish MDT would post the savig or gain in weight for their systems over the factory stocks they replace

Nope, Once you add the other parts it is negated anyway.

The rifle is quite light, and I would imagine losing the bipod would help a lot too.
 
I wanted one because its chambered in 5.56, I have 4 AR-15s and 5.56 ammo.
I bought just the rifle and put my scope a Bausch and Lomb Elite 4000 6-24 X 40, bipod on it, I had them in my shop and it saved me some money.
If it shoots ok then I would consider investing in something to improve its performance.
 
I wanted a .223 for varmints and paper.

Short listed rifles to MVP, Rem 700, Vanguard, Ruger, and Savage.

Wanted a threaded heavier barrel and under 650.00.

That brought it down to MVP and Savage Hog Hunter.

Tried the Mossberg loved the mag option, but the mag lock up and and sloppy new bolt design with the strange shell pickup on the bolt and fragile back up sights spooked me.

Found a new Hog Hunter (Budget build) for 479.00 Canadian, been 4 months and love it! Wish I had a detachable mag but found 4 rounds is fine I just top it up when shooting anyways.

Ended up doing rails on the stock, bipod (borrowed my buddy's), brake, cheekriser, added expanding foam to the hollow stock. Love the heavy threaded barrel, back up heavy duty all steel sights, and oversized cocking knob. :) No regrets at all the trigger is awesome set her down to just under 3 lbs. :)

I bought the 7.62 patrol version from irunguns a few months ago and have put a few hundred rounds through it. I agree that there are better guns out there like the ruger scout at a higher price and some smoother bolt actions at a lower price like the Rem 700 sps Tactical and savage hog hunter to name a few.
Mine had issues with the bolt being poorly milled and was gouging brass. Unacceptable at any price but certainly more upsetting for a specialty rifle. I could have sent it back but I took matters into my own hands and smoothed out the bolt and solved it. It has been a very accurate rifle and has shot 1-1.5 moa at 200 yards on multiple occasions. The trigger was set up nicely stock at around 4 pounds with a smooth take up and crisp break. I used xcr mags and have had no issues with mag retention. I love how the rifle looks and the finish is holding up well. The lack of smaller cap mags makes it uncomfortable to carry slung for long periods of time though.

If you are buying one, check the bolt for roughness near the locking lugs as it seems to be the most common issue.

The MVP isn't a "specialty" rifle, it is simply a handy rifle with desirable features that most manufacturers seem to have no clue about. If you move the sling mounts to the side of the stock the rifle lays flat against your back when slung. Conventional "6 o' clock" sling studs are a poor design.

I own the varmint model and I find it to be a decent rifle. I bought it when it first came out and I think the price point was $550. It's gone up considerably now with the failing dollar. Accuracy can be sub MOA with hand loads easily.I have had three shots under .5 numerous times,even not too bad with cheap umc. The action smoothes out considerably after a couple hundred cycles but you get the same slop as most 2 lug bolt designs found on most rifles in this price range. The long of it is that I have never regretted it and I needed a change from Savage and Remington for a budget rifle.
 
I have the varminter model with the laminated bench rest style stock. I initially had trouble with the extractor and nearly sold the rifle because of it. I'm really glad I didn't though- It will shoot a .250" group with 68 gr. Hornady handloads at 100 yds. its not a great prone shooter with that stock though and works best when fired from a bench. Go figure... Mags can be found everywhere for it and the AR15 pistol mags are just perfect as far as capacity and length.
Just be careful when cleaning the bolt. The extractor can be easily removed and when that happens, the extractor spring turns the detent ball into a miniature missile that you will never find.
