UPDATED 07/21- Any interest in 106mm Dan Wesson .357 barrels?

I have been talking with a company in the States that makes Dan Wesson barrels and parts, EWK Arms. He is willing to custom make some 106mm .357 barrels and custom bushings for under the regular shroud nut to work with existing 4" shrouds. This barrel can now make your 4" DW a restricted and not prohibited. Oh Canada.

The more interested, the cheaper the costing. I have one other fellow expressing interest and I thought I would ask others here. I don't have an exact costing, but it will be around the costs on the website (a little more for the custom work). Once I have a number to give him with expressed interest, I can get a firm price. Importing can be done by a company in Penticton for $35 or vendor of your choice.

I've talked to Eric in the past about purchasing directly from him. He said that I HAD to go through Brownell's to buy his products. Maybe things have changed. Keep us updated. I'd be interested in some other barrels and shrouds that he makes if I could purchase direct from EWK.

That's kind of what EWK was talking about doing. I was considering an external barrel nut, like the early model Dan's. The original 4" barrels are 101mm, so I don't know if a whole new shroud is needed for 5mm, but others can ask, but he turned down the idea.


I will ask him based on a possible 4 barrels, see what he says.

Read all of the thread, the part where I mention that Eric wasn't interested in making more custom shrouds; regardless if he made them in the past or not, that was the answer I got.
 
I received an email from Eric and he is quoting $80 USD for custom barrel and retainer nut if we can get three guys interested. One person has already emailed him direct with interest - anyone else? I am NOT wanting to run this as a group buy, rather three or more people buy/import their own. I will clarify with Eric and post if we get number three
 
^ Eric hinted that perhaps after he is caught up, he may look at that option. May being the key word.

I just got back from a road trip, let me see if the details can be worked out (for importing as well) and get back. Eric said he could have these barrels completed in a month.
 
I spoke with Eric earlier today (he's a really friendly fellow) - here's the low down: anyone can order the custom barrel directly from him for the price quoted $80USD plus shipping; no group-buy requirements, he just though that would save everyone money but organizing one - but for minimal interest here or anywhere it is more bother than worth. Therefore, pick your importer of choice (sponsors here import though I don't know who except Prophet and IRG) and EWK will bill them directly, then you pay the import company. He will only sell and ship to an American address. He may - key word may - consider fabricating custom shrouds to match the 106mm barrels but that will not be until he is all caught up on his regular barrel business, so that could mean late summer or early fall. Contact him directly for more details.

Again, I am just trying to pass info to the very few DW gun nutz so that they can enjoy their 4" shrouds and without a prohibited barrel. Good luck - my order is going in tomorrow and I was told it should be completed within a month. :)
