Hey guys,
I picked a deactivated #### and click L1A1 and believe it is Australian
The wood has 'SLAZ' stamped on it
The side of receive has 'Rifle 762mm L1A1'
Also is this an Australian sling?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

It looks more like a C1A1 with L1A1 stamped on it. Aussie L1A1 does not have a provision for stripper clips, and the rear sight does not fold like the C1A1. Was issued a L1A1 when I did an exchange with the Aussie Army back in the '80's. The bolt carriers (rat tail affair) had diagonal cuts to get rid if dirt. :)

Likely a dewat Australian or British L1A1 that was converted to C1 specs by a previous owner who wanted something close to the rifle they were issued as the parts mentioned above were only used on C1s.

its not a C1, you can tell by the serial numbers. AFAIK, C1's were number, letter, numbers, EG 2L9260, which was my C1 sn, all the way up to the 8L series.
Its got a C1 body cover and rear sight, which are easy to replace with ausy/uk style full body cover, as well as the sliding peep aperture rear sight. Sling is Canadian as well, ausy slings were similar to the ww2 slings with the end hooks on the 2 ends of the sling.
Does it have any other info on the reciever? EG C.A.L for cdn arsenals ltd, or BSA etc.

This would be my guess too. I have a British [BSA] L1A1 that I've tricked out with as many C1 parts as I could find to make it look like a C1A1 and it looks a lot like this [only nicer...the metal on this one looks kinda rough]. Here's a tip...DON'T TAKE OFF THE STOCK unless you _really_ know what you're doing....

It's an Aussie L1A1 like you said and whats properly marked on the gun. The F1 thing refers to the Steyr AUG and other Aussi kit that is F marked (old smg that replaced the Owen gun, F1A1 muti function initiator, etc) Like someone said, the previous owner tried to Canadianize it. You could replace the C1A1 rear sight and make a few bucks off it.

Would it be worth it to put it back to original configuration? Or just leave as is? Although I dont think I could change the bolt cover.
Also someone mentioned the Australian bolt carriers have the cross pattern on the bolt for dirt removal. Is this true for all Australian L1A1's?

Depends, I think the parts you have are more desirable (particularly in Canada) than standard L1A1s. It might even be easier to trade the whole rifle for a standard L1A1.

And if you want to straight up trade I have a stock Dewat Brit L1A1 that I would part with in a heartbeat for that nice "Canadianized" L1.

its a aussy L1A1 , aussy SN starts with AD.

with obvious Canadian C1A1 parts , rear sight, top cover, carrier, carry handle and front swivel , maybe the C1 sling , I cant tell from the pic.

you cant change the top cover and carrier bcos of the weld to the take down lever .
