ATRS is the premium option @$650 plus tax, with RRA close behind @$480....

Is there no other options? Brownells has a 20" SS barrel for $219USD... but the dang $250 export fee is the stopper :( If you can get a 16" for under $200 why is there no 20" for an extra hundred bucks?

Or is there?

PLease chime in with all your secret connections :) Otherwise it is RRA and 6-8 weeks waiting for this guy

thanks

I just figured there would be more interest in a reasonable heavy-barrel, and thus ppl like NEA or S&J Hardware would be cranking out a few for those not ready to drop the big coin for ATRS..

Seems to me it is almost more economical to buy a complete RRA varmint upper...?

Really can't go wront with a RRA varmint upper, top notch product. It kinda makes sense to get a complete upper.

LOL.. It is calling my name :)

Can't decide whether the 20" or the 24" ... any thoughts?

$650 (plus tax) for an ATRS barrel .. plus $130 for a FF tube fore end ...$80 for a decent gas block, another $40 for a rifle length gas tube.. about $250 for a decent BCG. This is all plus shipping of course, likely each piece from a different vendor. So at the end it gonna be like $1400-1500 CAN.

IRUNGUNS has a nice varmint upper for under $800 USD (just over $1000 CAN) Even with shipping it is still going to be several hundred cheaper than putting it together with the upper I already have. (which would have been another $150) I would also be shooting it immediately after it gets delivered... unlike waiting on parts and then assembly (which is the actual fun) for a month or so.

kind of a no brainer.. but I sure wish we had access to EVERYTHING from the USA without that commie BS ITAR. We are missing some sweet deals down there (esp when our dollar was par)

Did you email Brownells and check? I am pretty sure if you do it yourself there are no export fees, since the export limit for Canadian is now $500.

I think it is everything on the "no-no list" .. barrels.. receivers.. triggers.. scopes.. etc

I have a complete Colt SA20 upper for sale, never fired.

That is some nice gear.. but I am really going target gun on this one... I have another AR with a 12" and an 18" upper to play with already, so I want to get me a long a$$ stainless bull barrel and some 77gr projectiles to reach out :) Everyone has their "thing".. shooting steel, shooting clays, action shooting, cowboy shooting.... mine has always been punching paper. Though I do like to mix it up with the other guys a bit, I always return.

On Good Friday I spent 4 hours shooting my .22 (an old Mossberg 44US h-barrel) into a 3 inch circle at 120 yards with a 7x scope... best time in a while for about $12

I am a cheap date :)

Anybody know for a fact about the barrels at brownells needing a $250 export permit?

ya.. me. I thought it was clear. To further clarify.. I orderered a barrel that was $220.. then they ship a SECOND updated invoice including this $250 fee because its a controlled item.

I don't think I could be any more factual :)

"Non-Regulated Commerce Department Items TOTAL: $250.00
LIC-NSE-FEEWB EAR99 STATE DEPARTMENT LICENSE FEE 250.00"

the above is an excerpt from the invoice.. I cancelled the order immediately

It used to be free before but you needed to get a import certificate from the Cdn Gov't first before they apply for your US Export permit. I wonder if they're bypassing that with the new $250. lic fee.
