Here is a very hard to find svw45 in walnut. It has a blued receiver/barrel and the rest is mostly phosphate. Unfortunately it isn't all matching though. The bolt body matches the receiver but for some reason the back half of the bolt has been replaced at some point. It's a late phosphate MO back half which is interesting but who knows how or why it's on there.

It has an Astrawerke bolt in it and an e/18 rear sight leaf but the rest is all MO. The walnut is very poor quality and very similar to what you might see on a bnz45. Very porous and light. I'm not sure if someone at MO was just pissed off that day or if it's due to the poor quality wood but the WaA135 on the right side of the buttstock is extremely deeply struck.

Also of note is the e/135 accepted lower band. These aren't that rare or anything but the vast majority are unmarked. Possibly the bands accepted like this had some issue that required correction and then had to be inspected and accepted again? It's my first one at any rate. It's poorly struck and I didn't even notice it until I was editing the photos. I went back and tried to get some good pics of it but didn't succeed very well.

Nice one bud. The band acceptance is neat. Also enjoy the upside down second e/135 on the TG.

Walnut just ain't my thing. Wouldn't that thing look stunning in a move red glue lam?? Or white. Haha

Nice rifle! I traded for a 1942 J.P. Sauer und Sohn Russian capture the other day at a gun show. Lots of good stampings. I may have to pay Deanner out on this one and toss it on the pile at home. Sorry no pics, but typical dark lacquer plastered on the stock.

K98k's are addicting. Your RC sounds interesting for sure. I like all the variety of makers marks and acceptance marks on them.

So, are you opening the museum of Kar98k rifles in your basement yet for public viewing ? :)

Beautiful late war Kar98k, another one in a rightful collection.

Great combination of unique characteristics. Strange that the cartouche detail isn't that sharp given how deep the stamp went.

It must have something to do with the absolute garbage wood they used to make the stock. I took it apart today and was amazed at how light the stock is. I could tell the rifle was unusually light when it was together but after having just the stock in hand it was really clear. I took the buttplate off and you could see huge pores in the wood all along the grain. They were really scraping the bottom of the barrel for wood at this point.
