22 lr winchester ammo

wondering about some feedback, the Winchester 555, 333, 222, value packs, I don't expect fantastic results with this ammo as far as grouping goes, the way 22lr is right now this is one of the brands I run across regularly that is actually stocked so I bought some.

this ammo is complete garbage in semi's as far as I am concerned, it wont cycle, it fails to eject, it stove pipes, it is completely erratic and there are an unusual amount of duds and when it does fire and cycles {which is rare} groups are horrible, today rounds out about 9 different guns I have tried to run it in rifles and handguns and the same problems occur with all.

in my opinion if its the only 22lr you can find leave this junk on the shelf, but maybe feedback from others suggest otherwise.

anyone else have these problems with this ammo?

for the record, yes, all my firearms are cleaned regularly and taken care of, Remington, cci, federal are some of the brands that run like a top in my semi's, I can literally take a mag of Remington golden bullets run through them like a champ, load a mag of Winchesters and problem after problem.

just trying to save people some money as they are charging 15-20 bucks for 222rds, 18-25 for the 333 and as much as 35 bucks for the 555 now.
 
I've run about 75 rounds of win333 through my remington 597 without any FTE. I did however have 3-5 dud rounds and all but one fired successfully after a second strike. I only have one other semi auto but didn't get to try it with the win333 ammo yet... As with all 22s, YMMV!

Then again, it ate every kind of ammo I could feed it.
 
I've run a few thousand rounds through semi's - pistol and rifles, bolts, lever's and revolvers.

Have had a few fail to eject and fail to fire in the semi's.

With the FTF, I usually save them and reload so the pin hits in a different area. They will usually go boom.
 
Seeing the same thing as noted.

Had a box of 222's and about 1 in 10 (or so) ftf on first hammer hit (Marlin 39A) but went "boom" with a second hammer hit.

When there is nothing else available I tolerate them since the alternate is leave the 22 in the safe.

that's the good news, I will run them through a revolver, bolt or single shot, but the frustration with them in semi's for me is too much

I am going to try it again in my 795, I didn't run too much before a stove pipe and a ftf in the same mag in that gun, if I remember correctly when I first got that rifle I ran a box of 555 with no issues, and that rifle eats everything, my 795 is a great shooter and I love it so I will try that one again
 
I personally don't use it, but a guy next to me at the range a few weeks ago was using it. He said that he weight sorted it and this improved his results significantly- he seemed to be doing ok with it in looking at his targets. He was using a bolt savage- I don't know the model but it was on the more modern side. Who knows- maybe just voodoo... try some rooster blood.
 
seeing a lot of positive feedback, thinking maybe I got Friday ammo or something
bear in mind I haven't had much trouble with it other than semi's

this is exactly the type of thing I was looking for, several times I have noticed a significant difference in sound, a quieter rd guarantees a failure, a robust rd cycles the action correctly, that makes me think this stuff is made with virtually no quality control, 10 rounds in a mag and 2 sound like yellow jackets or stingers 3 sound like cb's and the other 5 are in between, the ones that sound sub sonic are the ones that trigger a failure everytime, good ammo sounds the same with every rd
