So if you have a DA50 upper on a AR15 type lower is it still a restricted fire arm that you can only shoot at a certified range? Yes I know that the receiver is the restricted part and must be registered. But as I under stand it on other fire arms if you put a longer barrel on a restricted rifle it changes its status to unrestricted that you can shoot off certified ranges. Is there a simple answer or is this another" AR"can of worms??:nest::canadaFlag:

That's kinda what I figured. A semi to a single shot / short to a long barrel just doesn't change the status of an AR And if you don't have a certified range for 50's near you I guess that you are out of luck. Walks like, looks like ,then it must be a duck theory.:kickInTheNuts:

Looks like some house cleaning has gone on...good was starting to get off track. Wielding the lower to the upper has been mentioned. Wouldn't a permanently fixed front assembly pin achieve the same result? I'm not going to run out and buy a DA50 because I just couldn't afford to feed it. That said if I was back on the highway, I'd be able to afford a 50 BMG rifle, but not be able to feed it for a year or so. This would be magic with a $149 DA lower. I'd be able to buy the gear and brass/projectiles to actually shoot it now and then (lol, probably take a year to work up a load). If all that is required is to have it permanently fixed to the upper, a non-removable front assembly pin and perhaps a block TIG wielded into the mag well should satisfy the RCMP Techs.

All we want is a reliable, usefully accurate, NR 50bmg under 2k. I dont care if the ayatollah makes it, lets just get it . And kudos to those who are trying.

We have been building a NON restricted lower for 6 or 7 years now for the Ferret or Safety Harbor versions of a bolt action 50 cal upper that is very similar to what the DA50 appears to be. I would think that the DA50 would be the same but I have not had a chance to closely examine this particular upper so am only speculating that it too could be modified.
The lower we make has the correct LPK for the 50 cal rifle primers, and sells for $600.00. On the Ferret or Safety Harbor uppers there is some minor modification required. We charge $200.00 to do this.

Once complete the upper and lower can very easily be disassembled, NO welds or such B.S. are visible as was suggested.

 No one suggested welds were visible. It was stated that welding was required. It shouldn't be this hard to get a straight answer. Just a yes or no. Is there welding involved? Yes or no?

This may be a viable option for some. Who knows at this point though.
