This is our new Youtube video, how to remove an SKS rear sight, the easy way! We have seen all kinds of different ways to do it, this is the simple & easiest way we have found yet, using simple tools. We remove a lot of sights....LOL

Remember tho, some chinese SKS have a pin going through the front sight and receiver!

Correct, some rear sights will have a small pin that needs to be removed first. Thanks for fixing that up Gosse!

I've always found it easy to remove the rear sight leaf, remove the pin, push down far enough and pull back. Works on both my 51 & 53 everytime.

There's some YouTube videos where guys stick channel lock pliers inside the gas block and squeeze. I shudder every time I see that. Don't try it.

My both my Tula arsenal refurbs have those little pins. What a pin to get them out! I found it hard to find a 1/16" punch in my local area.

Small finishing nail works great to push it out, mine come out easier if I tap from the left side and push it out on the right side.

use a block of wood in your right and and pull the distance slider with your left hand, right hand depresses leaf spring, left hand pulls the rear sight off. Dont scratch your gun with screwdrivers like this ninny in the video does, sorry highcal i didnt watch yours, i just rmeember watching the one with the screwdriver guy going nutz and scratching it. Was like wow, block of wood, no scratches and i did it without tools

This is an interesting method. Seems a lot easier than channel locks and a small nut...

I have removed dozens without scratching a gun, The sights sometimes get marked, but we dont reuse the sights anyways, however, a plastic or wood block or a taped screwdriver would be beneficial without a doubt!
