Anyone here used one of these? A friend was looking at getting one and just wanted to know if there are any positive/negative comments. Thanks for the help.

I just got one. I've put about 250 rounds through it and so far am quite impressed. I can't really test accuracy as I have not put a scope on yet, but the action is smooth and the finish very good. I like being able to use 10-22 magazines.
The synthetic stock is surprisingly rigid (seems much better that a 10-22) and the bedding system should be standard on all inexpensive small-bore rifles.
I've adjusted the trigger down to about 3.5 lb and it is very nice. So far I am quite happy. It is a pity there is such a price premium on it here in Canada

Mine is not that accurate compared to my MKII TR.

I don't recommend them, Save a couple bucks more for the MKII TR

I recomended them, great little rifle for the money . Much better finished then any of the Savages I've owned . Rimfires can be very ammunition sensitive. Mine have all shot well with the common brands , some brands were outstanding .

I have compact rifles in both 22 lr and 22 mag , love the way 18" barrel length handles. Shorter pull hasn't been an issue.

I also have a full size one in 17HMR, shoots great with 17gr Hornady vmax.

big boar;
Good morning to you sir, hopefully this Good Friday finds you acceptably well.

With the understanding that this is indeed a sample of one - here's a link to a post I made regarding a compact that belongs to our eldest daughter.

We're looking for a scope that will allow us to dial out the parallax and once we get that installed and tested I'll put up the results.

Hopefully that was useful information to you or someone out there today. Happy Easter to you all.

I enjoy my Ruger American in .22lr very much. It is a bit picky with the mags but it's surprisingly accurate for what it is.

One of the things that I was happy with in particular was all the different types of .22lr that it put down range accurately. I'm happy enough with mine that even if I buy another bolt action 22 I will be keeping my Ruger.

I have had my Ruger American Rimfire for a few weeks now, and I really like it. It is the first NEW bolt action 22 that I have purchased in over 20 years. I am surprised at how well it is made compared to all of the garbage 10/22's that they are putting out these days. A 10/22 built today is nothing like one made back in the 70's 80's or early 90's. That being said, the American Rimfire is a nice shooting, light well made rifle, sure it is not an M77/22, but it is also less than half of the price. For the few weeks that I have had mine, there are 6 less coons and 25 less squirrels in the world. I have found no problems at all with it. It is now my main varmint gun. I am starting to feel sorry for my Cooey's that would get used daily. Now they only get fired a couple of times a week.
Some things that I like about my American Rimfire are, The factory equipped green coloured composite stock is very sturdy compared to the one that Ruger uses on the 10/22. The large bolt handle is great to operate, the threaded heavy barrel without iron sights is right at home, and a factory equipped 4 inch long rail is a nice touch to easily mount any optics that you want. The fact that it utilizes standard 10/22 magazines is also a bonus. For the price this is a great gun. I would recommend this to any body looking for a low cost reliable bolt action 22.

that is NOT the same Ruger RF that i have!
yours has a green stock - threaded barrel and a over-sized bolt knob........ mine does not have any of that.
and now i really want all of those things!

I do not do that type of shooting, this gun has only been fired at targets with 4 legs and wearing fur coats also a few cans to sight it in.
