Hi guys

I Need your help to find my new house! just got transfer to Toronto! what is the best place to stay for a Tactical guy like me? 1-2 hrs radius from Toronto Airport? i am think of Blue Mountain or Muskota.

ps: big land or lake Area if possible!

Thank you!

Your post is confusing: In the title you are asking about Tactical Shooting Club, but then you are asking about a new house with big land or lake area?

Most clubs in the GTA will have IPSC some of them have Multi-Gun (cdn version of 3gun) Urban Tactical, Barrie Gun Club are 2 that come to mind.

As for new house, you are not going to find "big land" within 1-2 hours unless you have millions to spend.

Silverdale has Tactical range (but it is stationary fire unless you are the only one on the range.) you must be in an organized match for run and gun. no rapid fire unless on tactical range, and no shotgun shot (including buckshot)on any paper target range. There are 2 other tactical ranges but are reserved for daily rentals and competitions)

Check out Guelph R&GC and The Galt Sportsmens Club in Cambridge - both have a solid group of multigun enthusiasts, host matches, etc. and are located about an hour west of Toronto. East Elgin Sportsmans Association (EESA) is another option but is a bit further west. Many residents of Guelph and Cambridge commute to Toronto so depending on where you find a house, you will have a few choices of ranges. Unfortunately there is not a lot as far as ranges go in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and a large percentage of the members at my club (Galt Sportsmens Club) live in Toronto.

Alternatively you could try travelling east towards Oshawa. I believe there are some out there.

Unfortunately the GTA is a Lieberal Stronghold, and as such there are minimal or no ranges. Years back, Toronto city council voted to close all shooting ranges in the city in the hopes to cut down on gun crime. Cause you know, criminals go to shooting ranges...

Yes, the indoor ranges were closed, but the outdoor ranges are thriving...

Buy a condo downtown, and run around at night, you will get lots of experience!!!! good experience too.. Sorry I am in AB and not familiar with the rural neighbourhoods in greater TO.

If you are into carbine and pistol, the Ontario Rifle Association runs a very full CQB program at Camp Borden (near Barrie). 8 matches, 2 clinics and several practice days. Cheap, well run and lots of fun. Shooting looks like this:

I can personally vouch for Galt, Guelph and EESA. All 3 are great clubs and very supportive of the action shooting community. You may even wanna choose a couple ;)

What would be the basic gear required required for the ORA carbine shoots? I'd have an AR, mags and a CZ or 1911. I have gear for IPSC but that isn't appropriate for this by the looks of it.

All you would need is a method of carrying rifle magazines. Pockets, pouches, whatever. There is no dress code.
