I'm not about to explain all the details to you Greg. We are not all perfect like you. As I have said to you before, please go troll somewhere else.

Well said!!!

General consensus is that most transactions are positive with these folks but it appears every so often they have some issues. Proof is the fact that the gun I bought and returned is now listed the same way it was a couple months ago. The next buyer will be just as disappointed and upset as I was.

They once had a gun I was interested in and showing as for sale.
When I called the guy on the other end says nope it sold last week.
I said it is still showing as for sale and was it possible there was/is more than one of the same gun.
Guy goes to computer and checks it out and says nope that should have been deleted at time of sale.
No fuss no hard feelings polite and courteous the whole time.
There has been one or to items of interest , but those have been impulse urges that another cuppa tea has resolved.
Good People and would have no problem buying from them should the item be what I need and the price is right.

I bought a shotgun from them 2 or 3 years ago. It was listed as "very good condition" which it was. Only thing they didn't mention was that the stock had been refinished. It was a low price gun so I didn't make any bones about it plus I should have asked for more pics.
I too phoned about another gun after that. I was told it had been sold. Over a week later, after I had called about it, it was still listed on their website. Perhaps they only update on certain days. I called them about 3 times in total on various items and I was able to get through right away each time.

I bought a used Winchester SX3 for a steal here, but I did this in person. It was in great shape and has been my go to duck gun for 3 years. The reviews seem to be mixed, most people like the store. But those that don't . . . .
 
I have bought several guns from them in the last 3 years and never had a single issue. Most staff, owner and his son are helpfull and knowlageble.
 
I was with my friend when we stopped in to pick up the black Benelli M2 20 gauge he had put on layaway only to find out they had sold the last one that week. They made it right by selling him the camo version at the same price but still not an impressive experience. Also I have had the occasional issue when I have asked Ross or his Son to honor their claim of refusing to be undersold. I still deal with them because usually service is fantastic, but I prefer to make an instore purchase to avoid the mistakenly labelled used firearms conditions.
 
I have bought and/or traded 10-12 firearms from them over the last 6 years or so, both by phone or e-mail and at the counter. Never a problem and trades were fair. Both Ross and Justin are great to deal with. They support multiple shoots in NB and NS and really give back. Best deals are to be had in person, but I think that's a universal truth.
 
I bought a used Sauer .308 from them a few months ago. It is near perfect.

My buddy and I have bought about 20 shotguns and rifles, a handgun, a triple axis clay launcher and even a Browning vault door from them. We have had a couple of minor problems and yes they can be a bit hard to get a hold of, especially by email, but I believe them to be men of integrity. Any problems have been rectified with no hesitation.
I like Ross and I trust him.
 
So, regardless of me not appreciating Hoyt's crappy method of communicating, I called TGD and left a message with one of the gun counter staff, for Ross to call me. History: I spoke directly to Ross, via phone, last year, prior his Dad passing away. At that time, he told me that he would order a quantity of a certain ammo I was seeking and "sell me all I wanted, at a reduced price and ship it for free" (I won't go into the details of why he made me this offer). My subsequent follow up with Mark, on here, then Sarah, via email, indicated that the ammo was never procured. Fine, there are other items that they list, which I can't buy in NS. I anticipate that Ross will transfer at least some part of his offer to a different item. Update: No call from Ross. Based on MY experience with TGD, I wouldn't send anyone I care for, in their direction. Frig, I wouldn't even send Hoyt to them :) Good luck fellas!! I'll buy from some of the excellent dealers, that sponsor CGN (TGD was a CGN sponsor, when I last spoke to Ross.............).

Like many have said, ordering on the phone and sending email is pretty much useless with them. Since I am only a few hours away, I generally go a few times a year down there to browse and buy different things. I would almost suggest to them to throw their phones in the garbage! and email too!
 
I have been dealing with Ross for 25 years now; when I started shopping the it was 1/2 hardware store and 1/2 gun shop. My first shotgun came from there when I was 14; it is still in the cabinet downstairs. He usually lit up like a Christmas tree as my dad bought a bunch of stuff there and his buddy would walk in, look at something, and start rolling out $100 bills like it was Kleenex :).

I have had him gritting his teeth as he honours a price from a catalogue I open up, but he has always done it. I ordered a Ruger #1 stainless in 375 H&H when I was back for deer season about 9 years ago and one of his guys promised it would be there when I was down for Christmas. I called 2 weeks before heading out and they had forgotten to roder it and said they were all sold out now form the distributor. I told them Dad's buddy had one in his hands in Edmonton when he was on his way to NWT to hunt Dall sheep. He asked the location where it was, which I gave them. I got a call 2 hours later telling me my gun would be there. When I got there, it had a receipt from the store in Edmonton with it and Ross told me he was making a total of $3 on it, but he honoured our deal and the preset price he had given me. I still have it as it brings a smile to my face when I think about that (and they do not make them anymore).
 
Hard to get on the phone because they are so busy, and shipping to PEI is usually a ##### as they always use Armour transport (excellent delivery time, just pricey). But they always are very helpful and the great prices make up for expensive shipping. With Cabelas online being a ####show recently, I think I'm gonna be dealing with "MacAdam" as they are known in PEI more often.

One can please some of the people some of the time,
But one can not please all of the people all of the time !
There is a member on CGN that flat out refuses to post pictures or send pictures to tire kickers, he seems to sell everything
he lists.
I had a chat with this guy over a FinFire I had listed, sent a couple of pics his way and we couldnt strike a deal , but he was serious I was serious
and in the end that deal was never struck.
There are many guns just like the one they advertise around this vast country of Canada, you dont like what you see on their Web Site, move on to the next one.
I wouldnt loose any sleep over not being able to buy a .22cooey cause they wouldnt send a couple of pictures and certainly less sleep over wanting to post my experience with a large dealer.
Either they will change their ways or they wont and still be in business in a year or they wont.
I think they will though...be in business this time next year.
 
Agreed, and if it was a simple Cooey then yes, I can understand them not wanting to waste their time. But if I'm looking at a $1000+ used gun, I would like a bit better look at the gun before I throw my hard earned money at them. I've bought new and used from them before with no issues, just seems lately getting any response from them has been a challenge.
