2 years ago my area had 490ish tags, last year it was down almost 100% to 42 (i think) and this year, 30, yup THIRTY, Wow, what a crock of SH!T

Chances of getting a tag now are almost nil. I'm sure a lot of guys will not bother going anymore. I wonder if it will be easier to get an archery tag for moose? That may be my next strategy.

It is not easier getting an archery tag... it is easier going north... way north...

I just looked at the stats from last year compared to this year... some areas have gone UP in tag numbers... but the surrounding areas have gone down, which will mean that more hunters will apply to the blessed unit, driving success rates down there also... we have our strategy set, our chances are decent.

The non-hunting women will be happy if their men decide to stay home. Finally a Thanksgivings with the male side of the family present.:)

we had half our group head way up and tent it last season and they said it was like walking around in a pumpkin patch with all the orange hats and coats EVERYWHERE, they wont ever do that again.

When I lived in Ontario I used to love moose and deer season and not because I hunted them but because the marshes and fields for waterfowl were void of other hunters then and all the guy's traipsing around chasing moose and deer off the beaten path used to push birds off the beaver ponds and out to the nearby rice marshes I hunted. Sounds like waterfowling may gain more popularity again in Ontario?

God I hope not. I am tired with dealing with Duck Dynasty wannabes now. I don't need more people out for ducks as they say.

Yup,,,the mnr has been mismanaging the hunt for decades,,the proof is in the numbers,,,

Truer words were never spoken. With the resources ontario has available it is shamefully the ontario government won't invest and implement better management to benefit both the wildlife populations and the enjoyment of the management of them.

I was thinking of switching to archery to but after seeing the number of tags dropped again I may just deer hunt with the bow and use the $60 I saved to buy beer. Too bad, I've been staying in pool 1 the last 7 or 8 years hoping to draw one

I hear ya! Doesn't seem even remotely worth it to apply/buy, especially knowing you will not get an adult tag. Time to get out for the early deer archery season and spend some more time chasing the birds and fish around. Hopefully the bear tag is looked after before October 1st...

we didn't get a tag last year in WMU 50. In four days we saw 5 different bulls and 4 cows (no calves) we see lots of moose but no tags and this year cut in half. Only 80 total tags available to about 5000 guys applying

Most of the guys I know go way north either WMU 15B or even further to 3 (Red Lake) where they see good numbers and have great chances of getting tags. The days of driving 4 hours north of Toronto to go moose hunting are a thing of the past, unfortunately.

go north

last time bow hunting near Ear Falls - WMU 3 - few hunters and we had 2 bull, 2 cow tags for 6 of us..bow hunting moose is a blast - 30 inches of aluminum with a sharp point against 700 pounds of mean..loved it. Grouse and fishing a bonus
