Not a shortage there is no 22 RF in most of Canada

Again its very hit and miss. One or two stores may have lots so the locals to that area think there is no shortage. Talk to the store owners and see how hard the stuff is to get. P & D and Sportsmans Den in Red Deer have been working hard behind the scenes to get all they can, and order as much as they can so as to have some when others may not. also its doesn't always come in as expected so they may have a big supply while their competitors don't. Its really hit and miss with 22lr and will likely remain so for some time. It will sort itself out in the future, just don't know when that day will come.

Supply is very unsteady country wide

So when you see some, buy what you need for the near term as you may not see it again.

Prime time went out of business according to the owner because they couldn't get a supply of ammo,

HAHA they really said that? they were friendly and knowledgeable guys, but when you're selling win ammo for 19.99/100 and WSS is selling it for 10.99/100....customer service is great, but pricing matters just as much.....

WSS in GP seems to get CCI in every 4-6 months or so, and it is 200 round limit per customer per day, they had green tags and stingers back around Christmas

I've switched to ordering 22 ammo online, there is enough out there if you search and don't have to settle for whatever is on the shelves....it depends which courier the vendor ships with, some are not that bad, I paid 15.75 on my last order for 3 bricks, cheaper than driving around in the truck looking for ammo

The good news is that with bulk boxes(500) approaching $50 the hoarders will start shooting their hoard for a few years and the lack of sales should in theory bring the price down towards where it used to be ($15) I doubt we will see $15 again but even $25 would be a win.

The only bad news about the scenario above is the increase in new shooters who have no stockpile to work from.

No worries here. I have enough to last me a while. :stirthepot2:

I was in Kewlona last spring and found a store with plenty of .22lr. So I stocked up.

I still have much, much more. ;)

You are a lightweight my friend.....;-)

You're probably right. I'm lucky if I shoot 500 rounds of .22lr a month. (I prefer 12ga, 5.56, .308, 9mm)

The ammount of ammo in that pic will last me around a year and a half, give or take.

All togeather I have around a 2 year supply of .22lr.

I'm hoping things get back to normal before I have to restock.

We are using less and less gas. Do you see prices dropping to 1980s prices or less?

There is also less and less gas in gas today.... :)

As far as I can see lately industry in general is taking a page from the petroleum industry when it comes to modern pricing.

Supply and demand has little to do with it from what I see.

I'm just trying to be positive and hope that one day when the panic buying stops that prices will come down.

The ammo situation is fascinating. Not long ago I remember a time, when we didn't need to buy in bulk, you could buy a brick, run out and shoot it, and then head back to the shop and buy another brick, or buy a brick on the way out to the gopher patch, as we knew the shop would always have what we need. Now that shops have been running out, the storage has changed from the back of the retail shop to basements garages and man caves, of which there are many more than retail shops. The mentality of buying ammo has changed across north america, from buy what you need to buy what you can, and it will take a long time for the balance to return.

Seems to be more available around the GTA lately. I picked up some Winchester 555 this week, and saw some Remington, Winchester and Federal in a Crappy Tire today.

:agree: And while I don't shoot the venerable LR, my re-order points have moved up to 5000 rounds in the safe. Hoarding is the new norm. If the idiot gun control morons in the USA thought that slowing the production of ammo would have a detrimental affect on firearms, they have another thing coming. It seems most people have more ammo than they have ever had.

I don't think this will change for some time, if at all.
