Thanks, I have a M7 bayo on my 590A1 and never use it. In this case, I prefer the streamlined look of the 870 without any mounts attached.

I meant it about the ∆nice....I was just funning you about the bayonet.
I get what you are doing with this build. Clean.
re: bayonet mount; "better to have it & not need it, than need it & not have it!"

20" 590a1 with Mesa High Tube adaptor/rail, A2 stock and grip, Daniel Defense fixed AR sights. Also has S&J larger safety button and a GG&G follower. Now to decide whether I remove the barrel mounted sight or not?

DO NOT REMOVE that front sight , Reason why , Mossberg ghost ring sights are what about $80 , to get a gun smith to silver solder on and refinish barrel about $160-180 , So if you don't want it , put it up on the EE for trade for a plain 20" 590 or 590A1 barrel which ever one you have + cash from them .
just saying.

How do you run the safety on that shotgun?

The safety is the larger S&J one, it's diamond shaped and has ridges cut into it. Although the ridges are on top they are stepped so they work pretty good from the side. The safety is probably almost 3 times wider than the stock one, so the diamond wings protrude far enough to the edge of the receiver that I can toggle it on and off with my thumb while still maintaining a bit of a grip. During that motion trigger finger is above the loop along receiver, if one had gigantic hands I imagine you could maintain full grip and still activate the safety with thumb or trigger finger.

Thanks, I wasn't sure how much clearance there was from the picture.

I had an 870 set up like that years ago. It lasted about a month before I figured out that all I'd done was add weight and complexity, made it a pain to disassemble the gun, and added no functionality at all. It looked cool, though.

AGC, I agree with GH6....don't remove the front sight. Maybe trade barrels with someone who WANTS
the sight, but is stuck with a bead sight instead.
Nice set-up by the way! I like the old-school M16 buttstock.
Shot of similar safety:

Whats with the ugly silver Phillips head screw on that one? Didn't that oversized S&J safety come with the nice black hex screw like mine?
It also appears to be installed backwards.

Not an S&J maybe? There's has been unavailable for a while.
Backwards? What is one persons backwards is another's forwards ;-)

Mine came with the same silver phillips screw... looked cheesy. I got a 6-32 x 1/2" long hex head cap screw at a hobby store and dremeled it down to 5/16" long, fits perfectly and looks way better.
