I was reading an article about the Ross and it mentions that the Mark II has a "Harris-type magazine," but It doesn't explain what a Harris-type magazine is....

Can anyone explain what a Harris-type magazine is? Google was no help.

its an internal mag with an outside depressor that when depresed lowers the mag follower allowing you to simpily drop the rounds in the magazine, not the best design in my opinion but you know what they say about opinions

sounds like a lot more work and time compared to using stripper clips.

Unless one didn't have any: this allows you to drop loose rounds with ease. Remember those Bando leer that held individual bullets? The Harris system can run those extremely well. However, the mauser/ stripper clip feed defeated what was an arguable speed advantage over tubular fed systems.

Stripper fed> Harris system> tubular> single shot

Drop them in, snap the lever a few times and the cartridges automatically align. I've never had it not work yet. It's a neat system, but the stock seems weak because of it. I've seen a ton broken by the lever. Also the lever itself is a clumsy flimsy part.
