Hey guys and Gals I had a Remington 870 express supermag which I had for about a year. I could cycle any ammo through it wether it was cheap 2 3/4 #7 shot bulk packs or 3 1/2 #2 steel. I had no issues with the gun and loved it. The only reason I sold it is because I used it around salt water a lot and it rusted very easily so I sold it and got the camouflage version which is the exact same gun just camo and called the waterfowl edition. Now the only thing I can fire out of it without jamming is high brass shells. Anything with a low brass it will jam up every shot. Any solutions or reasons to this problem or do you thing it's a defect.

the 870 expresses jam a lot. just the gun

Great post, very helpful.

OP, there are solutions. Look up YouTube for ways to clean up / polish your chamber and smoothe out the action. The videos will have a better description than I could ever write up. There are ways to fix the problem.

I had one that I was ready to sell because it wouldnt feed well.
Problem was the little tongue that stuck out from the side of the lifting lever that lifts the fresh shell into the chamber.
This tongue of metal is bent upwards and often isn't bent in enough to clear the action.

870 jams on alluminum as well as low brass. Not much you can do as most of the 870's ive seen including the one i have does the same. One thing you can do is sell it and buy the winchester SXP. Much better gun in terms of reliability and quality. Also, it is roughly the same price as an 870.
