I did he course with few friends already, but examiner is out of town so got wait. Using this time to educate myself about guns and what should I get as my 1st rifle,
Right now SKS and .22 looking good, This forum is a great resource!

I would suggest either of those 2. 22 ammo is sometimes difficult to find, but still cheap compared to other calibres. Depends on what you want to do... If you plan on plinking on approved ranges or on dedicated crown land all is good. If you want to start hunting, I would say 22 all the way in order to get to know the rifle system. Then upgrade later for a larger hunting calibre...

Just play safe and be wary of what your targets are and where the bullet will land if you miss.

First thing to do is send in your application, by registered mail, with an annotation
that you will forward the course results to Miramichi when you receive them.
Your 28-day period commences on the date the registered mail has been signed for
(even if incomplete.)

Welcome to CGN ;)
