I bought a caldwell matrix, inexpensive rest about $50 irc. It works great for what I need. I believe there is a quick meathod for zeroing your scope in the optics section right now. It's quick easy and worked for me.
Pull the bolt with the rifle on bags... sight down the bore on the center of the target, then without moving the rifle, check to see where the scope is aimed... move the turrets in the direction of the crosshairs... in other words, if the scope is 8" low and 8" right then move the turrets down 32 clicks and right 32 clicks (@ 100 yards with 1/4 MOA adjustment)... this will get you on paper without firing a shot... then fine tune from there.
I used sand bags for years. Just cut the legs off old jeans and use tiewraps to close. Dont overfill so bag is hard and leave enough on one end to use a a handle for carrying.so I got my new axis and I'm looking for some tips&tricks on how to zero my scope. what kind of gun rest do I need also?
The interweb informs that lead sleds will sometimes break a stock as well. I've never wanted one. Bags or simple rest work fine.If a rest absorbs the recoil, it can also effect the point of impact.

Thanks, that will keep the sand out of my socks. I knew I was doing something wrong. For an even more sophisticated version, put the sand inside a plastic bag inside the cut off trouser leg.
